The "Why can't he be a space gun?" thing makes me think of Energon Shockblast, who did the thing Megatron did for a while, which was just be a "vehicle" that exists just to hold a giant space gun.

Considering that this lines gimmick is target masters, it would have been nice if the came with a small blaster version of himself that other figures can use. Would have also helped to justify the price.

There was a Legend scale Shockwave in Combiner Wars that was meant to go with Bruticus. He's a little big for this Shockwave, but he can use himself as a gun.

I agree. I had my doubts about "Space Battleship Shockwave" when they first revealed the toy. But now that I have one, I must say they made it work, especially since the battleship parts integrate well enough that he has almost no "kibble" in that mode apart from the giant hose.

I love this Shockwave design. That hovercraft really ads to the whole “I’m too perfect to walk” vibe. There’s nothing more menacing than a cold, calculating scientist hovering around, you should fold his hands back for that “I’m better than you because it’s logical” on that hovercraft.

I know he’s not worth leader price, especially because those armor bits will immediately go into a box for storage. But he’s Shockwave. He’s one of the 4 major Decepticons. And he’s perfect for what I want, minus the price. My other options for my shelf are either more expensive MP, 3rd Party figures, or my teeny Cyberverse Shockwave. So I’m gonna bite the bullet and pick him up and try to have $50 worth of fun with him.

I really want this figure since it's still a very good Shockwave figure and it most likely fits with my 3rd party Voyager sized Masterpieces, even with the stupid high price.

TBH that sounds like something Shockwave would do, the only good parts are literally his own, so he fires up the interdimensional space bridge that he just thought of and invented JUST NOW. He's like Wheeljack but with less emotions and lab explosions.

You can make a passable Astro Magnum ( :) ) out of him. You'll wind up with an extra extra arm piece. If you put him into his upside-down-gun cruiser mode, without his feet parts or his extra arms on the back, his extra arms clip over the bridge module/head, almost like they were meant to do so. That extends the grip. Then, the feet pieces you fold the wing completely under, and they peg onto the sides of the barrel, with the guns facing forward. Yeah, you have to find a spot for the other arm, but he does make a passable ray gun. I paid 30 bucks for him on a fluke, and at that price he's pretty slick. Overall, my chief complaint is that despite all he does well, or doesn't do, we didn't get his transparent gun hand. I get the extra arms not having them, and even arguably his actual hand being grey, but yeah, he should've had the one hand.

I would understand them going nuts over a g1 megatron with an alt-mode accurate to the real thing. but when it's obviously a toy like shockwave would be, it just seems .... stupid.

It feels like his leader classification is purely a matter of him being "more than a voyager" with the sled. And his alt is slightly not enough of a thing without it (apparently there was a strict not even fantasy gun movement). Thanks for the quick addendum on what to do with the hose. Actually, since the show featured Shockwave transform into a gun (presumably without mass shifting) I'm cool with the stripped down gun mode as just a hovering beam cannon.

I'm bummed, I really thought when I saw the early pics that the point of those giant tab-on shoulder bits that LOOK just like his legs / G1 handle was that they'd be able to form a good, beefy gun grip.

Thank you for posting this and Ultra Magnus so quickly. I wasnt bothered about reports of him being a small voyager but boy is he small. I use 3rd party voyagers and they would tower over him.

They weren’t gonna get away with just packing his core robot. They had to add the bits to hide what they were doing with him. It’s not like what the did with sixshot. He had other modes Shockwave doesn’t and the gem of siege for hasbro is making everyone scale.

I love it! I agree that it’s a voyager size leader class but because of the extra stuff, it made up for that to me. I kind of look at this leader class as sort of a weaponizer. I got some cool combinations and threw the extra stuff on Megatron

Alt-mode looks fine as-is, but looks great with the armor as some kind of battle cruiser. Robot mode looks better with the armor as a scout drone to the side. I really don't like the 4 arm look with the armor on it.

I'm impressed, the base figure actually resembles G1 Shockwave and the color is more on point than the initial MP release. Spaceship mode is ok, it reminds me of the Argo with the wave-motion gun in front.

Like others have said, he looks great, but I'm not paying Leader price for a voyager figure that's extra parts will be in storage. "Goro Mode" just doesn't do it for me. I wholeheartedly agree that he should’ve sold as a voyager, but I still plan on getting him. We haven’t really gotten a bona fide Generations Shockwave figure (the Combiner Wars legends figure just didn’t cut it for me). This figure looks insanely well done. It actually looks like he stepped right out of the cartoon. The only way you can get a Shockwave figure like that is if you buy 3P or MP and I don’t have that kind of money on me. I’ve been itching for a good Shockwave figure for awhile (the last one I bought was the voyager from Beast Hunters).

This toy is supposed to resemble the Revenge from the Transformers the Movie but to me, in reference to his god complex thing in the IDW comics (sorry if anyone hasn't caught up from last year), it reminds me of a purple version of Nemesis, the Titan based off of the artificial planet from Beast Wars II.

At 6:15 Wow, 34 years we had to wait for this figure to show up at retail again. You know, aside from the Masterpiece Shockwave, this version is worth the wait as well. Even has the tampographed (pad printed) Decepticon emblems on his forearms from the original G1 show! Awesome! How tall is Shockwave without the armor from toes to the top of the head ears in inches? At 9:42 Odd that the sled/drone looks similar to the Sentinel drone that Shockwave sends after Spike and Carly in Desertion of the Dinobots Part 2. At 12:00 Haha, looks like Goro-inspired from Mortal Combat. Strange.

I can not say with any certainty, but I know armored up Ultra Magnus is 8 inches tall, so standard/unarmored Shockwave may be between 6.5 to 7 inches tall from his feet to his ears. :S

I for one really dig this form for him, its Logical, a giant space gun has its uses... but what is a giant flying space gun if not a battleship without all the extras? So here we have shockywave With the extras... besides, we've had so many great quality third party shockwaves and some really nice official shockwaves that this makes for a nice change of pace.

I think the dropping of gun models on big bots comes down to scaling stuff. If the gun mode can't be used by another figure then it may be too wonky. That could be off, but I kinda prefer the submarine modes and other stuff.

In general, I don't really care much for SIZE, per say, but yeah, I certainly don't feel it's worth it at the Leader price point. I got the figure on Sunday along with voyagers Megatron and Optimus, and those figures I feel are absolutely worth the asking price. That being said I really needed a CHUG Shockwave for my collection and this fits the bill. Yeah, the price for it sucks but it's a damn good looking Shockwave and really fills the Shockwave shaped hole I have in my collection.

Personally I do think he is a big pricier that he should be (granted I've thought that about every leader after ROTF) but I'll still probably get him, since there really is not a good alternative, and I like the floating platform thing. It feels like something he would use in his lab.

I bring in the legends class at the end, and I had him out specifically to show how he worked with the larger figure, and forgot until the very end there. Just so you know, he CAN hold him, but at a weird angle, because the fist is too thick to hold it facing straight forward because of that second post. He sits at a 35 degree angle or so to the left or right unless you want to warp/damage the second post on the legend.
