Hi Brian - great video and information. You are correct, when I dumped the "less than 10 minute" clause and simply started making videos as long as they needed to be, my watch time increased dramatically. My number one video is almost 30 minutes. And I'm not going to say no, that Google & KZbin can listen and catalogue my videos, but I would still argue that putting in closed caption is important because if the search engines can listen to your videos, I suspect it's still in its infancy. And like you, I put a questions at the end of my videos and this technique too has increased the amount of interaction with my videos. The last part I would add is to do your homework on "Google Keyword Search" to locate what your audience wants. When I started making videos my audience wanted, and not what I thought was important, again, my watch time increased. Thanks for the great information, Cheers Rick

My most watched video is 36mins long, so this still seems to hold true in 2018. About they being able to listen to what ur saying. It might still be in its infancy, but its coming. For instance, when I first started. Like the very first video I uploaded got flagged with music copy right. so if they can listen to music, why can't they listen to keywords!? I'm sure they're already testing it out.

Hi Brian. I luckily got the chance to watch this video while I'm having breakfast. This video sure is very helpful and informative. I'm a newcomer in KZbin and the insights shared on this video makes me more inspired to do better on my future content. My takeaway is to only use the keyword phrase once in the title, and to make the first line of the description compelling for the user and include the keyword phrase there again. I think I've been trying to rank for more than one phrase, and that has actually hindered me in ranking well on some videos.

Hey, I really enjoyed this. I have a series called "roomies", and each video is very short and sweet. I feel that if it goes on longer than about 2 to 3 minutes, it loses some of the flair. I have thought of possibly combining the episodes into one video every time I do about 10 of them. Still working with that idea, but I'm definitely going to try that route first, making longer videos. Since my stuff is not instructional and more along the lines of funny sitcom stuff and music parodies, the titles are hard to really design for attention-grabbing. Regardless, thank you for taking the time to put this list together. It's been insightful for sure.
