I have my entire room covered in sound foam and that seems to help a lot with echo in a new poorly baffled place. I'm not sure if your wife would be down with that though. I put them on large cardboard flattened boxes and just used 2 nails per board on the walls. Maybe that can help you too.
@Accursed_Farms6 жыл бұрын
Feel free to post more specifics or email me. I may need to do something similar when I move to another place. Part of my concerns would be heat buildup.
@clyax1136 жыл бұрын
Accursed Farms To prevent you from ruining you walls if you choose to do this use double-sided tape. You can remove the pads any time without damage.
@GeekRemix6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what your limits are but for my setup I have a rug on the floor and try to concentrate the foam in the corners (where sound tends to get all gross). If you worry about using too much for heat reasons, many youtubers i know spread the foam out and have spaces between the foam. It's not perfect but makes a big difference. I highly suggest doing some googling on how to best use your foam for the type of space you have. Putting foam in the RIGHT place is much more efficient that just putting a lot up. Also for heat we usually just turn on a cheap small window ac unit I bought and turn it on for 10 minutes to let the room cool, then turn it off. But i know it's different in outside the US for AC prices and stuff though. Just wanted to let you know you have options and solutions :)
@King_Of_Midgard6 жыл бұрын
Another option is to look for places with popcorned ceilings. Popcorn ceilings break up the echos in rooms, and then with some wall adjacent furniture and maybe a painting or something hung up here and there echos can be quickly annihilated. Also, apartments void of furniture ALWAYS sound much worse than those that are furnished, keep that in mind when searching for a new place.
@MyKingDodo6 жыл бұрын
you can also use one inch steel t pins to affix each peice of foam individually. This will make more holes, but those may be smaller than holes left by nails (about pushpin sized). Double sided tape has not worked well for me in the past, and I got tired of having to reattatch four pieces a day.

I don’t know, maybe you don't need my advice, but I found few tips that helped me to find apartment more than once (I live in Ukraine): 1. Tell every realtor that you really want to find apartment NOW. You need it in 2-5 days. 2. You need to spend a lot of time on this. Just try to visit 3-4 apartments in a day (if that’s possible in your city). Yes, that’s difficult but it seems It’s the only way to find anything. 3. Realtors forget about everything, you should constantly remind them about yourself. Hope this helps you.
@TheTabascodragon6 жыл бұрын
mold is no joke dude. i lived in a house that had a bad mold problem (i didn't realize the full extent of it until right before i moved out) and it absolutely fucked me up. it will give you mental health problems, like legit drive you crazy. you can start becoming horrifically depressed, anxious, and even hallucinate. that's to say nothing of the respiratory issues it can cause. all that stopped when i left the house, so i know it was the mold. if you start feeling seriously weird, it's the mold. i don't want to freak you out, but it's really not something to mess around with.
The mold isn't really that bad, fungi in general are terrible at fighting your inmune system. You should really be worrying if you were taking inmunosupressors or if you had AIDS.

@CybershamanX6 жыл бұрын
I've heard quite a few Tubers say they started out recording in a closet. ;) Nothing short of acoustical foam and traps in the corners (basically tubes that stand up on end. carpet rolls work in a pinch.) is going to really help with the sound. The clothes certainly do help, though. Although, I'm not too sure if they are really helping with the humidity problem. :/ But, if that's your only option for drying clothes, what are you going to do? :(
@rasz6 жыл бұрын
clothes are the reason for the mold too
@victorkelp51546 жыл бұрын
Only because the ones he is putting there are wet. If they are dry, he is fine. Also, the clothes only make the mold worse, they don't cause it. And at this stage, it can't really get any worse...
@nodakamakadon6 жыл бұрын
I guarantee all the wet clothes indoors are a huge contributor to the mould problem, if not the sole cause of it.
@CybershamanX6 жыл бұрын
Mold spores are ever present, so all they need is the right environment to proliferate. So, sure, it's not like the clothes are _the_ mold "carriers" or something, but they make it all the more likely for mold to grow. To be fair, it looks like it's mostly contained in the bathroom. I thought he mentioned in his other video that it was in the other parts of the house, too. It's just that their bathroom is _perfect_ for mold; dark and less airflow. :/ There are mold killing primers that can be used to treat paintable surfaces. I wonder if they've tried any of those? But, they would still have to tackle the conditions that are allowing the everpresent spores to grow. :/

Yeah, it's not like things happen immediately. People have to find a place to live. They can't just pull stakes and bugger out on a whim. Having said that... What kind of dynamics are at play then? Is it just the general feeling of what's going on in the UK (like the US)? Or is it something having to do with the economy? It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually has a clue. CybershamanX It's chaos. The government hasn't a clue what it's doing; the specifics of Brexit weren't understood before the vote so a lot of people voted based on xenophobic tensions, and it's looking like the UK will be substantially worse off financially no matter what happens. Above all it's almost impossible to find concrete facts because all of the UKs media, including the BBC, are biased to a fault. But essentially, Europeans are being made to feel not welcome in the UK, which is awful to see, and they're just moving back home. We have a lot of Polish immigrants, hence my theory as to why things are so bad in the Polish rental market.

Drying clothes in the house is definitely a no-no, too. :/ But, if that's their only option, well...what can you do? :( Dehumidifiers would be a big help. They create a _lot_ of heat, though. They are basically reverse air conditioners; cooling the air within the unit so that the moisture condenses and falls into a collector. The waste heat really heats up the room and they can be kind of loud. Doesn't mean you have to run it all the time, though. ;) We had a mold problem once (some friends of mine and I living together) and while there was mold throughout the house, my room, with its ever running PC, was dry as a bone (I also kept my bedroom door shut).

Honestly Ross, you've earned the trust of your fans. Do what you need to, just stay safe. And in regards to computer chairs, I had two different chairs where the back support almost completely broke off. each one lasted around 7 months. Got tired of wasting money and pulled one of the old, beat-up lawn chairs that I never use out of the garage, and it's lasted almost 3 years so far. Honestly, they are really long-lasting. if you need a cushion, just hook some zip ties through some stiff pillows and you're golden (I used memory foam pillows because they were on-hand after a failed attempt at a project).

I honesty like the game dungeon more than freemen's mind...

Same. Plus Game dungeon is a better series to hook new viewers, since they all stand on their own, while freemans mind is a episodic series.

I like them both equally. :)

I gotta say, Ross, I love your style of giving everyone the quick information right off the bat and then going into detail after. You don't try to milk the video, you're actually just trying to let us know stuff.

Got an idea for a game dungeon Ross, AND ITS A MULTIPLAYER ONE. Theres this very niche game called "Space Station 13" and its one of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've had in a long time. And the development history of the game (well games because every server is nearly a completely different experience) is a story to behold. I think you should really look into it and maybe do a video on it to give it more popularity.

Hahah, but that game is a hell of a thing to get into. But hey as long as he doesn't touch the plague that is Baycode, he might like it.

Yeah but visually it'd be nigh impossible to capture on video meaningfully

The biggest complaint that Ross gets with the Game Dungeon is that he doesn't cover *ALL* the games.

Make sure you get everything in writing signed and notarized if you can. Trust me if you don't you will regret it. And if all else fails record it via audio or video
