I worked with Terrance on Empire. He was nothing but professional kind and easy to work with. Nobodies perfect, sure he had bad days and good days, but he was always good to me. I never saw him disrespect people or act like he was better than anybody. The last time I saw him I dropped something and he stopped his exit turned around came back and helped me pick it up. He remembered me even though I was a day player and hadn't been on the show for awhile. That cast on that show was a lot of good people. Terrence deserves every second of any good things that come his way.

As a college educated musician this is stupid. The overtone series doesn’t even line up evenly. Interestingly, there is a camp of people who believe A=432hz as opposed to A=440hz is the ideal frequency for our natural universe and by extension, our body, mind, and soul. Of course then you run into countless problems tuning instruments, hence why just intonation was adopted. Equal temperament chords sound pretty off because if the distance between one string and second are set to be in the right proportion then the distance between the second and third, or any other string, cannot be properly spaced

The talk about frequency is truly fascinating. I’m no authority on anything, but as a music producer/ sound engineer for the last 30 years I have learned that music or frequency or just sound in general is powerful. In fact, it may be the most powerful easily accessible and easily abused force of nature. Music can make you cry, fight, energize, sleepy, patriotic, rebellious, nostalgic… and that’s just using frequencies for rhythm and melodic harmony or in some cases disharmony. In a nutshell frequencies rearrange particles. It’s fascinating and a little scary.

i remember once a priest on our small town prayed over a sick child and after praying he sang a song (mostly a church hymn). the child's family is so poor that all they can do is go to a church to pray for their sick child thus a priest saw them. after that said priest prayed and sang the hymn the kid color (face) changed. he actually got better. so kinda makes sense that frequency can heal or make our moods better or bad depending on the situation.

I'm not here to offend anyone, including Mr. Terrence Howard. Perhaps I can offer an explanation that may clear up this "1x1” question. I think that whether it be +, - , *, or /, the units matter. In the case of multiplying, we often ignore the units because we sort of understood what the implied units are. For example, if 1 pound of grapes costs 1 dollar, and you purchased 1 pound, then the equation is [1 pound * 1 dollar/pound = 1 dollar]. The unit 'pound' cancels, and you're left with the answer 1 dollar. That makes sense because you purchased 1 pound of grapes, and so the cost should be 1 dollar. In the day-to-day application, this is often how we use multiplication. We drop the units because they are implied. In the case of a square (with length & width of 1 meter), the area is 1 meter x 1 meter = 1 meter^2. Note how you also multiply the units (I.e., m x m = m^2). If you have a rectangle with sides of 1/2 meter and 2 meters, then the area is also 1 meter^2 [1/2 meter x 2 meters]. This makes sense because if you take the area from a square (1 m x 1 m) and cut it in the middle and put them side by side, it would yield the same area of a rectangle (1/2 m x 2 m = 1 m^2). Math is just a framework like a language but with very strict rules. We have an operation where 1 "operation" 1 = 2. That operation is addition with '+' symbol. If we want to change the meaning of the operation 'x' to addition, then 1 x 1 = 2. Note that even with addition, one should be mindful of the units. For example, 1 dollar + 10 cents, we should convert 1 dollar to 100 cents or 10 cents to 0.1 dollar before adding. Therefore, 1 dollar + 10 cents can be written as 100 cents + 10 cents = 110 cents or 1 dollar + 0.1 dollar = 1.1 dollars. While Mr. Howard is correct that 1 dollar x 1 dollar is not 1 dollar, he is not correct in claiming that it is 2 dollars. 1 dollar x 1 dollar = 1 dollar^2 (which is not the same as 2 dollars). Dollar^2 has no meaning to us.
@jcinaz
@jcinaz Ай бұрын
"In Mr. Howard's example of 1 dollar x 1 dollar, Mr. Howard is correct (the answer is not 1 dollar; it is 1 dollar^2)." That's not making Howard "correct." It is altering his statement to make it appear to be "correct." But the statement of $1 x $1 = $2 is wrong on all counts, and it doesn't even equal to $1 because trying to make it so is to create an illusion. The statement that 1 dollar x 1 dollar = 1 dollar^2 is correct, although it is an illusion because in finance there's no such thing as dollar^2. Meters times meters is meters^2, but apples time apples is not apples^2. Meter is a unit of measure. Apples and dollars are not units of measure.
@fsacchau
@fsacchau Ай бұрын
@@jcinaz *_^ fyi: when I said, "Mr. Howard is correct," I was actually being sarcastic. Since Mr. Howard claims that $1 x $1 $1, I agree that it is not $1. Of course it's not $2 (from my grapes example). That's why I gave the grapes example because I was trying to give a real life application (and that we often ignore units because we know what the implied units are). It was my way of saying multiplying $ x $ doesn't really make sense. We don't walk around dealing with dollar^2. I'm not claiming that dollar^2 is $2. I'm not altering his statement. Maybe I shouldn't have use sarcasm at the end. From the beginning of my explanation, I mentioned that units matter...for example 1 m x 1 m = 1m^2 (I.e., 1 m^2 is not 2 m). If you read my explanation again (knowing that I was being sarcastic when I said Mr. Howard is correct), you will see that I was not trying to prove that Mr. Howard was correct. I was trying to prove that he was wrong. By the way, my day job is being a life actuary. While in university (many moons ago), I worked as a tutor at a private tutoring school (mainly Algebra and Calculus). I almost never ever post comments on KZbin but this 1x1=2 absurdity got my blood simmering. Why are we even questioning 1x1=1? Why is this even a topic? On the one hand, we should question everything, but this is not quantum mechanics. Anyway, happy you actually read my comment. Yes, I agree with you that 1x12 :-).

@Video Advice, can you pin this to the top? I seriously think Terrence did a mistake and really wished he didn't. But I am afraid people not at ease with mathematics are going to be misguided. And I want to lay his proof down in words that are understandable for everyone. So everyone can see where he went wrong. As a guy working a lot with mathematics, I really expected him to lay out different axioms that turn out to match reality that we completely missed. But his explanation disappointed me... In the following example, directly multiplying two apples doesn't make any tangible sense. Numbers are abstract objects. Only the units attached to them hold a tangible significance. ------------------- Let's phrase out his "reverses" for 4/2=2 and 2x2=4: > In how many equal parts do you want your four apples to be divided? Two? Here are two sets of [two] apples. The individual set's cardinality of [two] times one apple is what we are looking for. In short, 4/2=2 The reverse: > How many sets of two apples do you want? Two? Here are two sets of two apples for a total of [four] apples. The result of the multiplication is a set with a cardinality of [four] times one apple. In short, 2x2=4 ------------------- Now, for the supposed 1x1=2. Repeat the same exercise: > In how many equal parts do you want your two apples to be divided? One? Here is one set of [two] apples. The individual set's cardinality of [two] time one apple is what we are looking for. In short, 2/1=2 The reverse: > How many sets of one apple do you want? One? Here is one set of one apple for a total of [one] apple. The result of the multiplication is a set with a cardinality of one time [one] apple. In short, 1x1=1. ------------------- It was never 1x1=2, even with Terrence's explanation. I am not deforming his words. It is really how he put down the logic for it...

"Multiplication, at its core, is the process of adding groups together. For instance, consider a nickel. To multiply the value of a nickel by itself, you essentially recognize that you have two groups of five pennies. Hence, multiplying a nickel by another nickel can be expressed as 0.05 x 2 = 0.10. This illustrates the fundamental principle that multiplication involves grouping. Another example incase your still not following. Multiplying by 1 is a fundamental concept in arithmetic and algebra, often referred to as the "identity property of multiplication." This property states that any number multiplied by 1 remains unchanged. This is because multiplying by 1 essentially means you have one group of the original number. For example: 7 x 1 = 7 Here, multiplying 7 by 1 means you have one group of 7, resulting in 7. This principle holds true for any number, whether it's a whole number, a fraction, or a decimal. The identity property of multiplication helps maintain the integrity of a number when it is scaled by 1, ensuring the value remains constant. Lastly to just completely remove all credibility. Multiplying by 0 is governed by the "zero property of multiplication," which states that any number multiplied by 0 results in 0. This is because multiplying by 0 means you have zero groups of the original number. For example: 8 x 0 = 0 Here, multiplying 8 by 0 means you have zero groups of 8, resulting in 0. This principle applies universally to any number, whether it is positive, negative, a fraction, or a decimal. The zero property of multiplication underscores that if there are no groups of a certain value, the total is inherently zero. I didnt think we needed to explain this but apparently we do. Let me really blow your mind. Computers dont know how to mulitply instead they just add the numbers in a loop how ever many times you wish to multiply. function multiply(a, b): result = 0 for i from 1 to b: result = result + a return result In this pseudocode: multiply(a, b) is a function that takes two numbers, a and b, as input. result is initialized to 0. This variable will store the sum of repeated additions. A loop runs from 1 to b, adding a to result in each iteration. After the loop completes, result holds the product of a and b. The function returns the result. For example, to multiply 3 by 4 using this method: Initialize result to 0. Add 3 to result four times: After the first iteration: result = 3 After the second iteration: result = 6 After the third iteration: result = 9 After the fourth iteration: result = 12 The final result is 12, which is the product of 3 and 4.

Math loop section here is fundamentally flawed. Multiplication 1x1 is equal 1. Always. Because width of 1 element times the height of the same element is equal to area of the element itself. In other words - one width time one height equals one area. Then, when you take 0.5 of height (which is half of the height of the element) and multiply it by 0.5 of it's width, the area covers a quarter of elements area, which described by decimal number is as it should be - 0.25 or 1/4 of element area. There's no such thing as decimals in the Universe. It's just a cheat we use to describe small quantities on a larger scale. Otherwise it should always be considered a fraction and nothing else. 2/1 equals 2 because division is meant to answer question "how many of these are in there?". Multiplication is not an exact inverse of division. It just seems to be. All this video proves is that you need to understand what those operations are meant to do and what numbers mean in the real world.

Interesting. look how you mentioned decimals are non-existent, yet, math scholars will argue you don't know what you're talking about. Funny, people called Einstein crazy and a quack when he discovered E=MC2, theory of relativity. Da Vinci with his way out there designs, and Galileo a polymath (Earth was round not flat, first to discover mountains on the moon, Jupiter) Imagine what the powers that be and so called scholars said about or wanted to annihilate theses college dropouts who thought OUTSIDE THE BOX?? Quantum physics was called quack science in the 70s, 80s,and what do you know? We now have quantum computers. Ignorance just shows what you've only been taught and you think it's the absolute. Actually, the multiplication he's off, but the frequencies he is absolutely correct. A woman's breast cell resonates between between 10 and 30 kilohertz. Many cancer cells resonate between 1873.477 Hz and 10456.383 Hz, so a high frequency of 500,000 hz ultrasound totally OBLITERATES CANCER CELLS. They've also discovered that 60 Hz electromagnetic field promotes human cell proliferation. 285 Hz heals tissues and organs. It's usually guys like this that push us further along as a species,

In a microcosm he is detailing the supposed fact that we can change water molecularly by speaking to it positively or negatively. Considering we are mostly water and absolutely respond to frequency as humans, it doesn’t sound impossible but i still have to be skeptical. We’ll see what comes from this.

Multiplication doesn’t function with anything less than 1.00 . 1 is equal to a whole-whatever that may be. A Quarter is not a number, it is a whole. Meaning you cannot multiply any Whole by itself nor zero(nothing) in order to gain from which you started-meaning it’s not a function of multiplication until 1.00 has been surpassed. Multiplying by 1 or Zero means you haven’t performed any multiplication. The decimal system divides if you are “multiplying” by anything less than one-meaning you are now reducing material and not gaining. Hence the smaller number. 1 (whole) x 1 (whole) hasn’t gained anything and it is not actually a property of multiplication, therefore it is equal to what you began with- 1

I think the problem is the lack of understanding that when multiplying, you must have the same units. Ex 2 lbs × 5 oz= Can't do it. Obviously, most of the comment section doesn't understand basic math either.

That’s exactly how I thought about it but if you think about it in terms of something physical that can multiply itself, which is how I think he sees it, not theoretically mathematically but something that actually multiplies it self. Something that can multiply it self can add more than just the math equation. Say 2x2 equals 4 because the physical part like you say is 2 things twice, is four things. VS these two physical things that can multiply itself twice than you will have a total of 6 of them not 4. The first original two and then the 4 when it multiplied it self twice. Say the original two are doing the math they will have to do the theoretical math on what they’ll have after they multiply themselves twice, they’ll do the 2x2=4 so they’ll have 4 but then they have themselves which is 6 total. Like a couple having twins twice, they produced 4 but the family is 6 people.

1 x 1 = 1, would be verbally expressed as: if you took the number one and created it one time you’d be left with 1. It’s not two number ones being added to make two. If you have an apple and multiply it once I guess you would get 2. So with that logic if you multiply 2 one time you get 4. If your starting point is 2. So if you start with 2 apples and multiply it 2 times you get 6. So he’s saying 2x2=6. That’s not what the equation is representing. A penny can equal the physical object of a penny of $0.01. If you want to know how much 2x a penny equals. You would never express that as .01x.01. The whole thing is insane.

Great thought provoking ideas from Terrance. But, the math at the end can't be looked at as suggested. Yes 1 penny + 1 penny = 2 pennies because we're adding 2 "things" but with multiplication we have 1 "thing" and we multiply it with a value. The money examples all work out when the second number is treated as a value and not say as a second penny etc.

Im intrigued by Terrence's argument over linear thinking. However, I believe his stance on multiplication is a perspective flaw/disagreement. When I think of 1×1 = 1 I don't read it as "1 times 1 equals 1". I read it as "one times the concept of singleness equals 1. The inverse of 2/1 is expressed as 1×2=2 because the denominator, (1)x2=2, fits into the numerator, 1x2=(2), twice, 1x(2)=2. 1x1 equal anything if both 1's have the same value. For example, 1 human × another human can equals 8 people, including their offspring. However, the 1s in 1x1 do not have the same value or meaning

Multiplication is easier to understand when you write it out in words. How many times you do you find the thing. In this case, it is asking how many times do you find 1 dollar? 1 time? That's 1. If you found $1 x 2 (two times), guess what....it's two. You found it two times.
