Alex Story is the best thing that ever happened to Doyle. And both are the sweetest guys in RnR.

Doyle is absolutely one of the smartest men I’ve ever met, and totally controlled in his life. Back in 1997 I was 25 when I got let backstage by a roadie who thought he’d get brownie points for getting hot chicks ready for action to bands. I was only interested in Doyle and made a beeline for him, he finally turned to me and said,”Stop selling yourself. It cheapens you and I’m not buying.” Then he gave me a SPRITE cola, smiled kindly so I didn’t feel bad, and escorted me out. Doyle has a huge place in my heart for that.

I remember hearing that Doyle left the band initially because of tendinitis and personal issues related to a divorce. It was supposedly a temporary vacation that turned permanent. Dez may have been brought in in preparation of this, but I’m not sure of the timeline of things. That may have just been Jerry wanting more guitar in their live sound

Possibly, I'm sure it was ultimately a smattering of factors, what I mentioned in the video is what Doyle has officially stated in interviews.

If I remember correctly (from my days of using Misfitscentral and being a total Misfits nerd!): -Goolsby did bass for a couple of tracks on Chud's record which is where they connected. -Jesco (sic) left both bands simultaneously (as Chud drummed for Blitzkid when they toured U.K/Europe around that time). -The story of Doyle hiding from Randy Savage is hilarious but I remember hearing it and I think I heard Randy confronted and threatened Graves backstage asking where Doyle and George were during the WCW days. - Doyle definitely plays live, because of the use of Bass Amps and Doyle's very scooped guitar tone it doesn't cut through very well live so he compensates by playing LOUD, the second guitarist is very much needed live in my opinion. - Goolsby's writing was "not metal enough" for Doyle so he eventually left. - The Alex Story vocal demo's are available online: Man or Monster (titled "Soul Stripper") and Made in Hell. They are really good. - The track was called "Mothernight" : ) (one of the better tracks from that album imo). - Dr Chud edited the drums for the Abominator records, makes you wonder how much of it was studio trickery tbh, if he did genuinely play that stuff then big props to him, but still Fuck Chud for being Chud. - Doyle built his guitars but got the fingerboards/finger board moulds from Paul Reed Smith because (and I'm paraphrasing hear) "if you fuck up the neck you have to start over". I know I'm late to the party here but thought I would provide some extra info. Love these streams bro keep them up!

Late to the party but imo the way to interview Doyle is to talk about the shit he’s interested in, I spent a long time talking to his tech at a recent gig about gear and guitars and Doyle is definitely interested in that, esp his new custom axe made not by Dean. I think he’s similar to Glenn in that he gets sick of being asked the same questions whereas he’s focused on his current band - that’s why the don’t play ‘Fits songs anymore. If you started with his route to Veganisn, Alyssa, his hot sauce and his recent new products. His custom guitar (which he likes way more than the Dean - who can’t build it like Doyle wants it to be built ‘they’re getting everything fuckin wrong’ is the word), strings, protein powder and then moving backwards I think maybe you’d get him to talk. He’s not the guy that wants to trudge through history because he’s making his way forward now, I think you could get him to talk about since his ‘re-building’ of relationship with Glenn but I wouldn’t expect a historical deep dive. Dudes very introverted so it also depends when you speak with him, really hard to speak to him if he’s just done with a tour. if it’s a combo with Alex I think you’d get more out of him. I know he and Steve were very close, maybe that would be the way, a revisiting of that time with Steve, you might need to jump some bits. Doubt he’d talk rift with his brother, Graves, George who he has a kid with, etc. I always get the impression he’s more light hearted when people don’t know who he is as there’s less pressure on him to live up to expectations like that rig rundown as the dude doesn’t know that much about him as DOYLE, as opposed to those geeking out on his history. When I see those ints about original ‘Fits I very much get the feeling he knows he was a small part and owes so much to Glenn and to his brother so can’t talk with authority/license about that era. His own stuff, I can see being more likely. It’d be like Glenn, get him talking about movies or comics, wrestling, etc. with a little bit of music.

During their time in the Misfits, both Doyle and Frank used Ampeg V-4 amplifiers. This is significant as Ampeg is known for it's Bass amps and the V-4 (to my knowledge) is basically a bass amp, or can be used (and is) by bassists as well as guitarists, whereas Bobby played Marshall guitar amps in the Misfits days and Marshall's are known for their midrange, which is what lacks in Doyle's tone and the sound he seeks, which is why he plays Bass amps exclusively. He only wants the high and low frequency, no mids!. The amp Doyle used from 80-83 was actually Frank's burnt Ampeg amp that was damaged in the fire in Manny's garage, that he managed to get working and what he used back then!. 🎸

What is a hit piece about it? This is a generalized overview of his history...

@@Frumess I say hit piece mostly jokingly, but your tone came across kinda negative to me. I mean you are just flat out calling him dumb and implying he’s got all this drama around him. In comparison to the others he seems much more “normal” I guess? Just wondering if there’s stuff about him I don’t know?

So much hate on CHUD! Then calling Graves by his real last name? WTH with the disrespect? When you kno the true story of what FITS did to Graves and how they were treating CHUD as well... You see exactly why the reform failed. Same way it took 20+ years for a reunion.... EGO's!

Chud is a good drummer, he really helped drive the songs along with a ferocious beat. Don't know anything about him though? I saw that he had his own album, not half bad.

Goolsby sucked badly with Doyle! He was so wrong for Doyle.

Doyle is a god awful guitarist. He’s just a rock star. If Glen was never born, Doyle and jerry would be working in their dads shop today.

Glenn is a god awful singer. He’s just a rock star. If Rick Rubin was never born, if Metallica didn’t like the Misfits, Glenn would’ve faded into obscurity by today.

@@chriselathan the music speaks for itself, just as your skewed view does for you 😂🤣

@@chriselathan I think you have me confused for a Danzig fan, I’m not. I’m a guitar player who studies shitty musicians, hence Doyle. He has no pride in guitar, just makeup and weights. More power to him!

Doyle is in serious need of a gig with Glenn and/or Jerry. His band Doyle is unlistenable. The singer is awful and the music is boring. If it wasn't for his persona and stage presence they would never sell a ticket.
@Frumess2 жыл бұрын
He plays with Glenn and Jerry a bunch.

@Frumess Ok let me rephrase that. Anything he ever did outside of the Misfits fucking sucks.
