Sharon here: This view that John gave us of his inner self was far more true than his carefree, "far out" years. This man was lonely. His words looked out to touch the truth within us all, not only for his own feelings and heart. I will always remain a fan ~

You can see how much he still felt that song at the end of it, when people started to clap.

Thanks for posting this entire interview. John was very honest with his feelings at a time when feelings weren't talked about especially by men. He was way before his time.

What an awesome, deep, and committed gentleman. He constantly strived to be a better person and to make others think deeper themselves. I pray he come to know the Lord before he passed. He bared his soul in his music.

John had reaffirmed his commitment to Jesus, as his Saviour, shortly before the accident. I know thus, because we were together at that time. He had found true love, and was ecstatically Happy

He played that song with his heart completely bared. So moving. And he's right when he says. "And I don't believe that true love ever ends". He and Annie couldn't live together any more but they both loved and cared for each other until his death. And that sort of love is more true than early romantic love.

He should never have had all of those lothario secret affairs on Annie. He was never the same after he’d mercilessly and irrevocably betrayed her and they divorced. The world still forever loved Annie and “Annie’s Song”. He never understood that his success would be contingent upon the public thinking that he was being faithful to Annie, but he shattered that trust and thus, the trust w/ the public, as well as himself and his later music after they found out.

Your comment is only an indication of the staggering arrogance females are capable of. It is not anyone's place to say what John Denver should and should not have done. John Denver was loved before Annie's Song and he is loved to this day and in the years after the divorce and prior to his death, he continued to play to sold out concerts to people who loved him, so you cannot pull him down. I suggest you introduce yourself to the 'clean up your own backyard' philosophy.

John had finally found Hus real true love, shortly before the tragedy. It was not Annie. Also, Annie was not free of bad things toward John...

That's not correct. He did not "affairs", they are relationships. He played up when he was on the road (one night stands), which is very common with artists who spend long periods of time away. At the time he said he didn't realise it would be destructive, he thought he almost deserved it (because Annie wouldn't come on the road with him). But after a while he said it became meaningless and the guilt set in. If Annie can forgive him and still love him I think we can and should.
