The Weirdest JRPG Just Got an English Translation! Linda Cubed (Linda3) on PS1 In English Finally

Linda Cubed is basically a JRPG that is Pokemon...except not! It's one of the strangest JRPG games on PS1 or on any system...and it's not been translated to English making it playable to a much wider audience! It's a PS1 hidden gem and feels like a Pokemon game except WAY weirder...retro gaming is strange like that sometimes! But as far as great rpg games are concerned Linda Cubed is among them!

I've wanted to play this for a long time now! I loved the artbook "Cannabis Works" for years without knowing it was full of art from this game, once I found out it became my most wanted rpg translation. this and germs both getting translations is so exciting

This amazing! I discovered this game so many years ago and could never play it. I first saw it in Tatsuyuki Tanaka art book Canabis Works. He was the concept artist for this game. He is an amazing illustrator and animator. There is this short movie he made called Toujin Kit (part of a colection called Genius Party) that is really amazing and I hightly recomend. Also recomend both of his art books.

Since you asked I'll be that one guy who explains Noah's Ark to you, quickly of course. So it's from the part of the bible called Genesis. God tells Noah that if he believes in him to build an ark to house his family and every animal on the planet. God tells him this due to how the world has become, Noah is the only one who still believes in God and isn't a corrupt person. So Noah builds this ark, it takes him about 40-50 years to build. Once it was completed, all the animals flocked to the ark, two by two, and Noah's family boarded the Ark. The earth became flooded for 150 days and at the end of it, Noah sent a raven and dove out after 40 days of course. The raven didn't return but the dove did and found no place to rest. Noah waits another 7 days and sends the dove out again this time returning with an olive leaf. He then waited another seven days and the dove didn't return as it found a place to rest. Noah then released all the animals on his ark and a rainbow appeared. The rainbow represents God's promise that he will never flood the earth ever again. It's not all that different as far as I can tell other than the obvious changes in art direction and some slight differences in the endings for each scenario, in terms of graphic content though, it doesn't seem to have been toned down at all. There is something about the PC Engine cutscenes that is more "intense" in a way though, the limitations of the hardware make them look pretty unsettling in comparison to the anime cutscenes in the remake, the actual events of the cutscenes, though, are mostly the same.

They even subtitled the anime cutscenes! You can just feel the effort the translation team put into making this work. They're definitely taking some liberties but not enough to change or hurt the story from what I see here. We're nearing a world where every Japan-only PS1 game I've ever been interested in is translated.

@@VideoGameEsoterica Yeah you have good taste mate, looks really good, never tried it before, if they ever do an English version I'll be putting it on the MiSTer, I recommend the Saturn translation of Policenauts, stick it on your MiSTer, it's the bees knees bruv. (the PS1 version is almost as good, so try that if you have issues with the Saturn one, though you shouldn't)

@@Catwithsunglasses_ You're not wrong, there are dozens of Japanese games I'd love to get my teeth into, I have though about learning the language before. But with A.I. almost perfectly at the point where it will be able to accurately translate anything on the fly as an overlay, I wonder if it's probably a waste of time now, especially within another year or so.
