I actually liked the emotional progression Aloy goes through. And I thought it was smart of the devs to wait till the end of the main game to introduce Burning Shores. Aloy had spent her life in isolation, convinced she would be alone her whole life. And over the course of Forbidden West, she meets new people, learns to trust others, and builds her own little family (calling Beta her sister is a dead giveaway). So when she meets Seyka and realizes she has these feelings for her, at first she tries to repress them. But slowly she starts to accept them. In the end, when Seyka returns those feelings, I did choose the “Love” option because it felt like the natural next step for Aloy, to accept acceptance in all its forms. I hope we get to see Seyka again in the next game.

never.. not ever in a million years did I ever expect her to find love. Like it was the last thing in my mind, it was always protecting everyone else. She actualyl opened up herself to Seyka, something she's never done before. Rost would be so happy knowing she found someone, even though it might be a while till they see each other again - they will wait for each other. Then in the end, when they kiss - Aloy is finally doing something for herself that makes her so happy.

I'm gonna be honest: I've been waiting for some kind of romance for Aloy forever. And i saw something like this coming a mile away. Was expecting it either midway through Forbidden West or to start up some time in the next game I played through Zero Dawn like eight times, and every time Vanesha or Petra started flirting with her; especially Petra; Aloy would get flustered and it was both adorable and just downright hilarious because Aloy has no idea how to react to things like that. And with how she's always moving, never taking time to actually form some kind of REAL relationship (not counting her team, they're more like a goofy disfunctional family where the pieces just kinda fell into place than anything else); having this drop on her where she's actually trying to figure out how she feels about this amazing woman she just met while trying to prep for Nemesis at the same time? Its downright adorable because she letting herself actually FEEL something other than comradarie for once and she gets so flustered while she does. Point i'm trying to make here: I don't care if people think this feels rushed or is pandering to the LGBTQ community, I'm just glad our nerdy badass red-headed huntress is finally getting the girl! ...kinda

I don’t think people care about that. It just felt really rushed and unnecessary in this situation. Aloy is a character that knows what world she lives in her world is messed up and destroyed and she is trying to fix it. So when Aloy would say “I don’t have time for relationships “ it made sense because realistically she doesn’t. Yet this just felt unearned they only met 3 days ago . Yet people will give it brownie points anyway just cause.

​​@@jackluffy7914 mean, yeah it was three days, but a busy three days. Seyka found someone who actually supported her when she was at her lowest. Aloy helped save her sister and people, and found someone she could fight alongside. They conquered the closest thing her people have to living gods, defeated a metal devil together, and had a good synergy for working together. More people have fallen for Aloy for a lot less. As for Aloy? This was something akin to looking in a mirror. She finally found someone who could actually fight alongside her, was willing to do the right thing even if it meant angering those around her. Seyka is someone Aloy could see as an equal, and they both went through a lot of hell in a few days. Sounds far more exciting then any date I've been on. Also, attraction is naturally weird. Some people you can spend months or even years trying to woo and they will barely give you the time of day. Others, you just naturally click with after only a short time. I feel all the life and death moments they went through together helped as well. We are also talking about an 18 year old who has been through more life or death situations then most, lived with little proper social contact, and is known to have barriers up to not let people in. But Forbidden West has, in part, been about lowering those barriers, and letting people in. Allowing people to be a part of her home. Her family. We are also trying to give justification for a video game character in a fantasical world that we can never truly experience, so eh? Regardless of the opinion of the romance, I think its still a great game and I am excited to see where it goes from here.

I find that ppl who are strongly against this ship usually r coming from a place of having a preexisting ship, and that's okay. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and u don't have to ship Aloy w her. But calling Seyka terribly written, not deserving of Aloy, "out of the blue" is a bit extreme imo. Cos personally, as a Horizon fan who's never actually shipped Aloy w anyone before, I thought this DLC was fun and refreshing, and so was Seyka as a character. The first thing I noticed throughout the DLC was, Seyka never once called Aloy w nicknames we often heard throughout the games. It's as if, to Seyka, Aloy's not "Outcast," "Champion," "Anointed", "Living Ancestor" or "Outlander". To Seyka, Aloy's just a girl who fell from the sky. Literally. Her whole life, Aloy's been robbed of the chance to introduce herself to someone w/o any preconceived notion, but with Seyka, she finally got that chance, as Seyka never quite discovered Aloy's reputation, nor did she seem to care. I also don't get ppl who r saying that Seyka is EXACTLY like Aloy, because while playing the DLC what I found was that Seyka was a character similar enough to Aloy in that they're both outcasts of their respective tribes, never quite fitted w the rest, and it's understandable that Aloy found comfort in finally meeting someone who could understand what it's like to be cast out and not belong. BUT one thing that separates her from Aloy is, while Aloy tries her damndest to disassociate from the Nora (and she has every right to, given how they've treated her), Seyka juxtaposingly still tries her damndest to fight for the Quen despite all the rejection she's gotten, which makes Seyka reminiscent to the one person Aloy holds dear, actually: Rost. Getting to know Seyka reminds Aloy of that sense of selflessness Rost showed her, that sheer willingness to fight for the people you love without ever expecting anything in return. In the first game, Rost's insistence for Aloy to give the Nora a chance was Aloy's biggest point of contestation, one that she never quite understood let alone had any interest in "listening" to. But in HFW, after finding friends to fight for and discovering her own sense of "home", Aloy started to warm up to the idea of having her own "people." But that alone wasn't enough; meeting Seyka finally brought that arc full circle, as Seyka held onto the very same principle that Rost did. Only this time, Aloy was finally ready to "listen." Once I pieced all that together, it wasn't hard at all to understand how Aloy could fall for her. How could she not?

I hadn’t make the “nickname” connection at all, but it makes sense. All game Aloy tries to correct everyone who calls her “outcast” or “savior” but Seyka never sees her as anything but Aloy. I see now why the devs waited until the end of the main game before making this available. Not because of Walter or Sylens, but because of Seyka. Aloy, who had resigned herself to an empty lonely future, had to create her own little family and find a sense of home and bonding before she could take that last leap that Rost wanted for her till his last breath…acceptance and love. I hope we see Seyka again. Because now Aloy is not just protecting the Earth out of some vague “Savior” obligation. But because there’s finally something…and someone…truly special waiting for her at the end of all this.

Seyka better return in Horizon 3. I know they separated them here so they didn't have to explain why Aloy suddenly has a girlfriend to the people who didn't play the DLC, but I really hope they can continue their romance from very early in the main story, and not on some 3rd game DLC.

I don't think they separated them because some people who haven't played the dlc would get confused. Horizon 2 recapped Horizon 1 and didn't mind that Gildun was a dlc-only character (and kind of still is). Why would Horizon 3 be different. Aloy has responsibilities at base, Seyka needs to help the fleet reunite. Aloys stay in LA was always a temporary one while Seyka can't just up and leave. That meeting at the end is first and foremost about saying goodbye (for now) as neither one knows when they'll see each other again. Starting a relationship under these circumstances feels rather counter intuitive to me to be honest. Makes more sense - to me at least - to do so when Seykas half of the fleet reaches Landfall and she's got nothing more to do than join Aloys team and get to world saving.

This really was the first time in long time since Aloy got to be "just... Aloy". Londra looking for romance interests among his followers is often the position Aloy is in for the main game - she's put in a celebrity/semi-deified/outcast position in almost every tribe she meets and that makes it really difficult for her to find any privacy (or be treated as an equal) to explore something very personal, complicated and sensitive like romantic feelings. I think that's why it made sense to do in a DLC - this is a separate area with no one Aloy knows, far from the main map. She also gets to control what information others know about her - she never tells Seyka about any of the heroic things she's done, or being a clone of Elisibet Sobek, and there's no way for Seyka to learn that from anyone else until she meets Alva. Here she can be "just... Aloy" and learn what it means to love without the added complication of being the saviour/chosen one.

lol I see no complains when Varl literally put a seed in Zo's mother base, how is their relationship not as "forced" as Aloy and Seyka's? And it's not even that bad. It's pretty well built up, the moment we knew that Tilda and Elizabeth were a thing, Aloy could also be into girls then come the DLC. I'm the type that doesn't like romance in games or anime and when it's there I prefer it to be a heterosexual relationship, but I don't mind this at all. They're really cute together. The homosexuality in the series has been present since Zero Dawn in side quests and in datapoints, people are just mad about the lesbian kiss 😂. One thing is for sure that Aloy has feelings for Seyka just by her monologues. no flashpoint can save deny that, but if people are just mad at the kiss you can just skip it you know. People saying their relationship is forced but in reality everything was forced into Aloy in her whole life. Forced being outcasted, Elizabeth's name, the forbidden west and literally saving the world. Now that she found something that she want, let her have it ffs. This also sets up an interesting 3rd game. Now, Aloy has to be a guardian to Zo and her baby, a sister to Beta and a lover to Seyka, while having to save the world. something Aloy never had to do before.

Also, can't people focus on character traits and stop focusing on sexuality. Lesbians and gay men exist in this world. In this game, our main badass protagonist happens to be a woman who is a lesbian. And, as a 34 year old heterosexual male, I can identify with her because of her character traits. Who she falls in love with, is none of my concern, except that I really wanted it to happen (especially when she saw Varl kissing Zo - I thought at the moment she wanted to experience something like this) - and am more than happy that it did. Tbh, Zo being pregnant felt just a little bit too forced as it was handled - story wise it would have had a lot more gravitas if this was known before they went in the Cauldron. The revelation felt a little flat but the acting sold it. Anyways, Aloy and Seyka are cuteness overload. Their dynamic was first, extremely fun, second, their relationship was built throughout the entire DLC.

Because the romance doesnt fit the character at the moment. And no it was not well built up. For all her life she believed to rely on herself and only herself. She even tries to ditch the people she fought along with, who she spent so much time with multiple times. She does grow and learn to start trusting and relying on her close friends and allies more, but that would the BEGINNING of her full character growth. The DLC is set within a week of end of the game. A person never ever grows out of their beliefs so fast. Especially when they spent 20 years of their life in isolation and shunned. The romantic tension builds up the moment they lay eyes on each other for fucks sake which would be appropriate for a normal and at least a semi-social person. But a charcter like Aloy would never even think about romance or even friendship for that matter after just meeting a stranger. The conflict put between them for drama and bond growth was shown to be the argument about keeping secrets. But a secret about a world devouring AL from space fairs a bit different than some fucking murals drawn by ones sister showing that the sister might be in an unspecified "danger". This argument was pointless. The main game Aloy never would've pushed for an answer or argued and finished the mission like before. All in all, the "I dont have time for this" option fits better, considering that they both go through some stuff together at least. The romance plot like this would've been better in the third game where Aloy would have time to grow and socialise more and heal from her isolation mentality. PS:- But evan Alva seems more like Aloy in terms of knowledge and curiosity than Seyka. AND Alva can fight too. So the reason of "she's just like Aloy" doesnt make sense.

While it was cute seeing Aloy blush like that for once, I feel like letting her have this kind of love story in a DLC with only 6 quests came with a rushed type of writing... Seyka is basically Aloy 2.0 but less interesting storywise, but they forced you to care about her in every way possible in order to give Aloy and Seyka a love story (even if you refuse, Aloy seems to still have feelings... honestly why do they even give you this "choice between feeling or rationality" in these games if it barely changes anything at all) and I cant see this any other way than a deep friendship and respect instead of a romantic interest out of the blue Just like with Varl and Zo honestly, whose relationship also felt way too much rushed (in 2 days only they fell in love so much they had a child? Yeah sure), they wanted to squeeze in some sort of romantic story just because? Aloy is her own person who players control during gameplay, but whose story we never had any hand in. Even if the romance happened in the base game, it would have been with one predetermined character, and the only "choice" you would have would likely be similar to the one here. To accept or decline the relationship. Aloy would like the person regardless of your choice, and she would not like anyone else regardless of your choice. Just because Horizon has the occasional Flashpoint events doesn't mean that players are choosing anything. All of the choices are parts of Aloy's personality. You choose which one she expresses. It doesn't set her personality any which way. So if you want a game that have player choice on dialogue, romance, story events, and to ultimately reach a different ending than another player's ending, you ARE asking Horizon to be Mass Effect. Play ME instead.

Raised in isolation by Rost, she's had no experience of social interaction - that's clear from the scene in the Nora lodge before the proving (although again, you can pick three different options that only serve to elicit different speech from the NPC). It's only as she begins to realise exactly why she exists that she begins to rely more on others out of necessity. When we get to Forbidden West, her personality develops a lot more and she begins to show feelings towards others - it's clear she had them towards Varl as you can see it in her reaction when he kisses Zo - I think this was more Aloy reating Varl like an older brother. We then see how her bond to Beta develops once she realises that she's her sister (at least genetically). Along the way she develops friendships with other NPCs, but I always got the impression that her mission was always a barrier to them becoming anything more than platonic. Then we come to Burning Shores - a completely new character (who is definitely a lesbian) and then we get the ending. The cynic in me sees this whole "same-sex kiss" thing as a way to generate free publicity - it's not like it's the first time it's been done (Last of Us Pt 2), and there are other games where you can have same-sex romance (Fallout 4 had it years ago), so again, it's not breaking new ground and it's not like it's going to impact the next game in the franchise, so the more I look at it, the more I think it was put there for this reason (I had a strong hunch this was going to happen as soon as I saw the trailer). At the end of the day, all that matters is what the player gets takes away from it. One option makes it appears that Aloy is a lesbian - the other two are less clear cut and could be taken either way (which is how Guerrilla wanted it to be). The next game will either have to force the issue or basically ignore it - I'm just annoyed that I can'r play the game until the PC version is released.

I like this story despite how some people are reacting to it. To me this doesn’t feel rushed, but rather a natural progression of Aloy’s character, which evolved majorly in the base game. At the beginning of FW, Aloy was pushing the people who cared about her away, to focus on her mission and to live up to Elisabets example, who she had put on a pedestal of sorts. You can see in the prologue where Aloy pushes Avad away when he asks if she can be with him whenever she returns. She rejects him not just because she sees him as a friend and nothing more, but because she’s telling herself she can’t let herself get distracted from saving the world. You also see her push away Erend and Varl, who each just want to help her because they care about her. And in the story of FW, Aloy realizes she doesn’t need to do things alone, that there is strength in allowing others to help you. She also realizes that despite her and Beta’s relation to Elisabet and each other, they are all fundamentally different people and her and Beta don’t have to be the exact same person as Elisabet, as she had her own personal struggles and wasn’t perfect. Despite how much people respected and cared about Elisabet, she was a very lonely and distant, even when she was in a relationship with Tilda. So when Aloy finally decides to be not the next Elisabet but just herself, this relationship with Seyka is a result of that decision, to be close to someone romantically. So I actually support this romance not just because I want Aloy to have someone in her life, but because it thematically fits with Aloy’s character progression.

About the last scene where Aloy kisses Seyka, I noticed that Aloy does not wear the head piece that comes with the Nora outfit. Whereas in every other scene the head piece is worn. I’m curious, did you remove the head piece manually? Or was this removed intentionally by devs just for that cutscene to allow the kiss? I am always removing the head piece from outfits when i play, as most of the times the head piece does not complement Aloy’s face very well. So i have no way of knowing during my play.

The romance was so horribly written in Burning Shores, and it didn't give me the option to say. "Sorry, not interested. I just want to be friends." If it just gave me that option, it would have been fine. It seriously felt like it was just thrown in for American political reasons and ruined the story for me. For example, The Last Us 2 is a great example of a lesbian romance that was well-written and not political. Maybe, it's because I have personally had that same situation happen to me twice in the last year or so, and I really don't like it. This forcefull romance plot was absolute dogshit. She went from barely trusting and relying on her friends which she knew and fought along for almost a year to suddenly falling for a random woman she met in battle. Was this plot written by a highschool romance writer?

H*mosexuality is not equivalent or identical to natural sexual relationships. It's often presented with very poor writing and character development in an effort tokenise or signal social propaganda with high overrepresentation.
