Wow really? At least we know it's happening on both photo and video. I have no idea in regards to the Drive app. But my workaround for this has been using iCloud Drive on Mac, then accessing through the FILES app on iPhone. I use Notion for everything so I sometimes put the photo in a notion card. Then i can download it on my phone pretty easily.

Thanks for the video. The only workaround I have found is to hit open in then save to files. Then screen record (which you could do from google too) crop it in photos app to retain original size. Then post. 😂 absolutely horrific

Thank you so much! I test-recorded a video with HEVNC (h.265) instead of h.264, it wouldn’t let me download so I thought maybe it was the file size. I changed the encoder to h.264 and it worked! 🎉🎉

1. Make sure your phone software is also up to date 2. Turn wifi OFF, and try downloading it on cellular data 3. If it's still not working, I would use dropbox lol. I've had such an easier time with it Lemme know if any of these end up working!

This doesn-t solve anything, you're basically rendering in a lower quality from 4K to 1080p and thats why its only working. I need to download the video in 4K, without changing quality.

Yeah in that case it’s not so helpful. But that’s the point of this thread. If you find something that works better definitely let us know. I eventually switched to Dropbox and haven’t had any issues yet. Much faster computer to mobile transfer too

Try dragging your file into iCloud Drive. Then on your phone open up the FILES app. See if that workaround helps

Sorry you’re still dealing with this. Honestly I’ve been testing Dropbox for probably 9 months now for downloading video and photo onto mobile devices. Never experienced an issue like Google Drive’s when doing so. I know it could be an annoying workaround but sometimes it’s way faster to make the switch

I don’t know if you’ll get to this but this is my problem: my drive is letting me save one video in particular that is about 4mbs of storage, the other ones are slightly larger but no more than 50mb. So it let me download the smaller one and it saved to camera roll, my other videos will say they’re saving and won’t show up in my camera roll. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app and still nothing

1) do you have storage available on the device itself? 2) is your internet connection being interrupted while downloading? You could try turning off the Wi-Fi and try using your data. 3) try Dropbox if this doesn’t work. Super smooth to upload from computer and then download to your phone from the app

I ran into this issue again and tried a new approach. For context, it was a 3ish min video in 4K. Which was 2.37gb. Failed airdrop from MacBook to iPhone 12. But shorter videos that were like 100mb or so successfully transfered with airdrop. So then I upload this remaining video into Google Drive from my MacBook. It was failing to download to my camera roll again. Thought it was bc video is still processing. But even after it processed, did not show up in camera roll. THEN I decided to delete the Google Drive app on my iPhone. Downloaded it again from App Store. Signed back in. And this time it worked!!!!! In the Drive app, the spinny wheel went on for 2:36. So be patient if the file is large. And then check your camera roll (in the date range you actually took the photo/video). *It won’t show up as the most recent since the Photos app is organized by when the raw image/video was taken. If you try this method, plz leave a comment below so we know it’s working for you too!

Frustrating. iOS is the worst. I tried this on my Andriod and it worked just fine. But now my Andriod is lost and I have to rely on my iPhone. Every single thing I've tried, nothing worked. I've waited hours for my video to process on Google Drive, and afterwards tried to save the video. But no. Completely wasted my time. A couple months ago, I used Dropbox, but I don't remember it working... it probably didn't. I would try again but it's saying to pay for a trial??.. which I'm not gonna pay for the chance of it not working. Sometimes with video if you send a copy via text message on IOS, you can go back through the messages and save it (I have confirmed this with a 2 minute video that was exported originally from premiere as h264) BUT I did try this a few months ago with a 10 minute video and it was unable to save to camera roll. Hopefully this helps 1 person that fits in this niche category lolol

Is it a really large file? Bc something like 2.5 gb would spin for around 2:45. Try deleting the app off your phone. Redownloading it. Then try the “save video” again. Curious to see if that does it for you

@@bango9935 okay gotcha if there’s no storage on your phone, you’ll delete stuff off your camera, apps, or upgrade your iCloud storage in settings. It sounds like you have enough space in Google Drive. It’s just freeing up the space on your phone or adding iCloud storage to add space

One more fix to try - sign out of your gmail accounts in the drive app + in the MAIL settings (settings -> mail -> accounts -> delete account). Then re-add / sign back in

What is the solution straight out of premiere? Clearly Quicktime is doing something to the file to make IOS accept it. So what is the "It". I followed your method and it just made the file a .mov vs my exported .mp4 and it compressed the bitrate
