I wonder if he even touched it. All we have is a poor quality video clip where you can't tell who it even was. It's not like we have video proof of him leaving his room or in the halls. It could have been anyone. The way that place is bugged, but all we have is that one video and for me, that's not proof. North Korea accused him of doing it for the CIA, which doesn't even make sense, and a Methodist Church. But he was Jewish. None of it made any sense.

It was not the US government that helped Otto out of North Korean prison, it was the Swedish government together with the Swedish ambassador in North Korea, this is something that the US claimed later on they did all by themself and never thanked Sweden for it, if you search for it you can see who really helped Otto be released

For those interested in the story of the girl and her mother at the beginning of the video, it's not as dire as it may seem. This footage was taken by a Japanese journalist staying at a nearby hotel. The journalist faced several panicked days trying to smuggle the video out of China to reveal the truth to the world. Eventually, he successfully escaped, and Japanese media began covering the story. At the time, with the 2008 Beijing Olympics approaching, the Chinese government was eager to avoid further issues, leading to the release of the mother and daughter, who now reside in South Korea. All praise to this brave journalist for saving the lives of these innocent people.

You know, a few nights ago I was watching a YTV about that situation. I took several careful looks at the surveillance video tape footage of the person stealing the poster and that is when I noticed the person in the video was noticeably different in stature from that of Otto (he appeared shorter, thicker and stockier than Otto). That is when I started thinking "hey, that is NOT the guy", then after hearing the details from his travel group I realized foul play (on the part of North Korean authorities) was involved.

Back in the 90s when I was in the Navy one of my buddies brother was stationed there and he took us up there and we got to see everything as close as anybody could get. We were in our uniforms and of course they monitor all the guards on that side and the North Koreans monitor all the guards on the South Korean side. So if anything's different they get all worked up over it. when we were in our uniforms they started taking pictures of us because we were new they hadn't seen us before. Somewhere in North Korea there's a picture of me and my friends when we were 19 in our working blues which doesn't make sense cuz they were black. But somewhere in a filing cabinet there's a picture of me and my friends with a big question mark under it who the hell are these guys.

@2oqh
@2oqh Жыл бұрын
I completely agree but this is a bad example of why. You could say the same for anything past the basic survival and rights since those are things not available in some other places. It’s like telling a person who just lost their job and their family that they shouldn’t be upset because there are child slaves working inhumane hours who have it worse. Sure, the crying about pronouns is ridiculous, but that’s technically subjective. You could theoretically argue anything past basic rights is ridiculous since they’re all desires, although you’d alienate about 99.9% of everyone in the world. TLDR: I agree but not because there are people being tortured in other countries without human rights lmao

From my investigations it appears he was not the perpetrator and was unfortunately the one who went back to the hotel early for travel the next day. His friends could be covering, but I believe there was proof. The video of him pleading in trial was one that I teared up watching. Theres something strange that happens when a person is a mirror image of yourself acting and talking just like you…yet nothing you can do.

It doesn't matter he did not touch that damn poster and everybody knows it. The North Korea's need to have a reason to take him prisoner so they could use him as a bargaining chip and It went bad because they tortured him until he went into a coma. If anybody listens to the statement you know that he did not write that because nobody who speaks English as their first language talks like that. That statement was made up by somebody who doesn't speak English well like they just took the words out of a dictionary and tried to sound English. They had the right words but they didn't put them together the right way he would have known the difference and not spoke like that there is no way in hell that he wrote that statement.

my grandpa was 2 years in yugoslav peoples army (that time was after ww2 and population was still damaged from war so service was 2 years after some time it got lowered to less time after population has grown) my father served in 80's for a year and a few months. My father often tells me about military and discipline. To be fair YPA/JNA soldiers had food and stuff, sure it wasn't the best since my father said how normal soldiers get dry bread while officers would get fresh warm bread (and he laughed a bit when remembered how when officers left the table after eating soldiers would race to grab the good bread leftovers) also some old tin cans, but all in all my dad said it was ok but a lot of stories of some soldiers doing dumb stuff then regretting the day they were born. Most common punishment was cleaning bathrooms or halls, after cleaning it up after hours officer comes and points out few barley visible spots and spills the whole bucket of water and you have to do it again. Now that is normal socialist army, which lasted for 3 years at most and that only in 40's when army was really needed after ww2 and there weren't enough people in population. As i said my father served a year and few months. I can not imagine how to live in 100 times worse for 10 tmes longer. Atleast YPA was a normal army where soldiers were taken care of. That over there that is not an army, but slaves in uniforms.

It’s not easy to do. NK is backed by China and Russia. It would provoke potential wars and a lot of death including of North Koreans to try and “liberate” them. The people in NK hate the western world because of their culture and are highly indoctrinated to the point a lot actually think they live in a great country. It would take a huge amount of resources to integrate these people into a normal society.

The person on the video is apparently much taller than he is, and they are completely covered from head to toe, so you can't tell who it is, anyway. That is the unfortunate dynamic of indoctrination. The brain during its early years is highly maliable and is at its peak neuroplasticity. Once synapses are formed and the brain has created enough circuits it begins to shrink by just around 1%. This usually happens during the teenage years and is responsible for pruning away excess unneeded synapses to prevent the brain from overwhelming itself or consuming too many calories, then it reexpands towards our early 20s. However new synapses formed during this period are only integrated into the brains neural network on top of the pre-existing network, with the intent to improve the fine-tuned neural network even further. This very mechanism right here is what makes indoctrination so effective, because if you can fill someone with indoctrinating ideas like that during these critical periods of neural development, then they start to develop their neural networks and synapses in such a way that makes them view the entire world the way the indoctrination spells it out. This can be overcome in more intelligent individuals, although indoctrination like this stifles intellectual development of any kind as the brain literally has to resort to more primitive means of life to merely survive in such a hostile environment (North korea). Along with the opportunity for the brain to be exposed to intellectual information being completely controlled by the government, it can be harder (not impossible) for someone with a high IQ to even be born (in North korea), or have the proper environment to reach their full potential and develop an intelligent neural network.
