⏩ What's with the gloves?
Not after any KZbin fame here which is why I'm not in the vids - they're not about me they're about the how-to! I used the gloves for the first couple of projects I filmed which just happened to be messy ones and it kinda just became a thing - easy to spot my videos! I really enjoy tinkering with different projects - they usually require a whole bunch of research and learning along the way. It's satisfying on doing a thing and standing back and going 'Yeah! Totally did that!'. I had a bunch of mates asking 'how did you know how to do that?' and 'I couldn't never do that myself so I thought; I need to start something where I can help others that might be thinking the same thing :)

Well done. Nice and simple explanation. For 5 stars - You might have mentioned the pin numbers that are shown on the switch . Also you might have commented that If Pins 3 (Acc) and 6 ( +ve Dash connection) are joined together then the lower "dash" light also comes on if so desired for whatever reason as well as the top switch light.

Good video - my only question is on the rocker switch that I purchased the diagram supplied shows in center Pin should go to (in my case a autopilot) and the bottom Pin to the 12v battery. Do manufacturers change the Pins position over?

Can I ask you how to configure them to switch off automatically the dash light when the engine is off and the car key removed? Do you have a video for a 6pin rocker switch? It helped A LOT with re-wiring my fog lights and rear defrost switch, but the rear wiper/wash switch is a 6 pin with 8 numbers and I don't get it.

Great video! Question, I have mix of 3 and 5 pin switches in a panel. I would like to wire them so bottom (dash light) light on switch is always on and top led on switch is also always on. Adam, You do such a Great job of making these tasks less … Daunting. I’m wondering about 7-pin variety. They make Momentary 7-pin for tasks like Winch In/Out. I’m curious if the SWITCH is created as a current “reversing” device, or is that function handled elsewhere ? They also make Latching 7-pin, but they are typically promoted to switch two Separate devices using one switch. What I’d like to do is use a 7-pin Latching to operate a Fan in a van, in BOTH directions. The fan itself does not have an intake/exhaust function. Only intake. I’d like to create the ability to reverse direction, using a switch. So, I suppose polarity reversing (??) …. Are these types of switch ‘usable’ that way, or do I need a Special relay, or …. ? I want to use a switch like this but rather than having it disrupting a POS connection I want it to disrupt a NEG wire. Can you use the left sided bottom two connections for a ground instead of a positive. It sounds like the switch will not illuminate when “on” this way though. It’s two bad both LED’s dont get power from the right sided terminals. Any thoughts?

Is there a safety cover for a rocker switch? When my Lab rides in the Ranger with me, he always places those large paws on the dash and thus constantly turns the 4 wheel drive to various modes. Mine are wired up slightly differently. (by an auto sparky) so the part that illuminates the lens with the picture comes on with the dash lights and the (brighter) lens that's just a bar comes on when the switch is on. That way you can easily identify what you are switching in the dark. works well.

Hey 👋 Do you mean for the switch lights? If so doesn't have to be from the dash necessarily, just if you want them to light up with the rest of your dash lights it would have to be a power source on this circuit.

If you look at you car manual book it shows fuse box diagram and show dash night time illumination fuse so best is take the the live wire for switch from wire comes back from fuse to the dash lights to your switch . That’s what I did and worked for me perfectly, special my car has auto day/night dashboard illumination and lights switch automatically 👌🏻
