Likewise, another thankful Tucson owner here. I was clueless until I spotted this video.

Got a Tucson myself & about to put in a dashcam. Very relieved that I just need to pull back the rubber strip to get wire from windscreen down to floor. BTW Won't interfering with the fuse box, wiring etc. void whatever warranty your car has?
@lunchbox99916 жыл бұрын
Installing the wire over the top of the A-pillar like that means it is front of the curtain airbag, which could be problematic if it deploys. You should have (carefully) removed the A-pillar cover and routed the wire *behind* the airbag where the factory wiring runs then out the bottom of the A-pillar into the rubber skirting channel.

So, you buy a £20 fitting kit but when you install it, it doesn't have the fuse tap-off you need, and the vendor (Halfords in UK) don't stock what you do need. You buy a tap-off from eBay and wait four days for delivery. This comes with a warning about the force needed to remove/insert micro fuses! When you try to plug in the tap-off it won't go in. You have to file the leading edges of the blades. Then it goes in but won't stay in, because the plastic moulding fouls the fuse holder. You have to remove plastic (carefully!) with a blade until the fuse tap-off goes fully home. Then you don't get a live feed, so you check the tap-off and find that the fuse on it is in the wrong slot (there are two). This ten-minute job can take ninety minutes. Be warned!

Thanks for the video - where did you found a good grounding point near the fuse box?
@XDavidT52 жыл бұрын
what fuse type you used?

Good video but too much for me. Wish they will eventually make all wireless cameras.

How can it be done with a USB dash cam and the cable hidden? Do you know which would be the correct part to dissemble? Thanks

Why did you add a 15amp fuse when it was blank in the first place? Doesn't the dash cam hard wire kit have a built in 2amp fuse anyway?
@yamipizza83574 жыл бұрын
Those fuse taps won't send power unless both fuses are installed.

Can't you just wire it into the cabin lights right above where the cam is situated?

Hi buddy. Have you ever discharged the battery? after what time the device disconnects the power supply in the recorder? I am asking because my wife is parked at work and the car is there for 8 hours. Is the device able to record 8 hours a day?
@VideosOfRandomThings6 жыл бұрын
MisiuRider hey there, as soon as turn the ignition off the camera turns off. What you need is an external power supply such as a portable battery charger, the same as you would use for your phone etc. just be careful you need a bigger memory card, if something happens say within the first hour and you come back 8-10 hours later because it was recording the whole time you might come back and notice it's been erased. Unless if you have the g sensor turned on in which case it will lock the file. Or you can get a low voltage cut off module which hooks up stright to your 12v car battery it runs off that and when the battery in your drops below a certain volt I think it's about 11.7v the camera will turn off to protect your cars battery and you can start it up again.

THANKS for answe - you have low voltage cut off module with your dash cam?
@VideosOfRandomThings6 жыл бұрын
MisiuRider no problems! No not at this stage. We don't need it. It's parked in a garage at night and we have our undercover spot at work. So we don't really need. However if you park on street at night or during the day at work I would suggest you get one. Too many idiots on the road who don't care. About 50bucks posted you can have that kit.

How does wiring into the fuse box get the proper amps and volts to the dashcam and not fry it?
@geoclaps6 жыл бұрын
The hardwire kit has a regulator wich converts the 12v to a 5v connection. The hardwire kit also prevents draining the battery when it's connected to constant power. I'm not 100% not sure but I think this is for people who want to keep using the camera while parked (parking mode, wich is also an option on the A119s v2, wich I have).

Hey mate, what would happen if i install it in constant 12v power? And leave motion detection on. I only need it when dodgy neighbours walk past my car. What do you reckon? Will it drain my car battery cheers dude ?
@VideosOfRandomThings6 жыл бұрын
MrJewripper hey there, what I would recommend is a low voltage cut off module for the camera, so it can run of the battery power supply even when car is off, but when Voltsdrop below 11.4V the camera turns off. Just so next time you start the car the car actually starts and you need to jump it
@MrJewripper6 жыл бұрын
VideosOfRandomThings aha i see what you mean, instead of using your standard 12v to 5v converter, use one that has a low voltage cut off module built in?
@VideosOfRandomThings6 жыл бұрын
MrJewripper that’s exactly right! Make sure it has the same connection as the camera, either micro USB or mini USB and it will work with any camera!

Running wire on outside of air bag is rather stupid.
