Love single hand fishing for atlantic salmon! Hope the SALAR hooks are coming soon, but I guess the COVID situation put a pause in the plans? Best wishes.

Great video. What skill, especially on the one handed rod. Wonder how much this would cost per day?
@saevarsnorrason78713 жыл бұрын
I would guess around 1000-1500 usd per day

Nice , what wt rod is that ? I caught a 16lb RaInbow on the Taylor River in Colorado years ago on a 6wt and a size 20 midge . I was like Forest Gump running up and down the river . Did manage to land it with the help of a guide fishing below me . I can’t imagine catching a 20lb Atlantic Salmon on a size 20 hook , that’s when you need a reel with a good drag . Next video Mikael , good luck 🍀

Well a salmon is king in the river and if you dont make it panic the salmon will mainly be calm and stya close to where it took the fly until it is somewhat exhausted enough to be netted. Most people use too much break on the reel and scare them and lose them becaus the fish just turn and burn downstream and something will have to give. And with hooks size 14 and down you just cant pressure them much anyway or the hook will straighten out.

Still don't understand why people fish all day right handed and then as soon as they hook a fish they have to swap to their weaker arm to play it. Just doesn't make sense, I know it's traditional but still don't think it's makes sense.

Me neither, I tried it hooked a salmon, and my left arm was cramping so bad, and I had no feeling playing the fish, switched it right back… Think the reason is, that the handle can catch the line while casting, but I never had that problem.
