Namaste: Kalaripayattu The oldest known martial art is an Indian martial art called kalaripayattu. Bodhidharma Shaolin temple established Bodhidharma the third son of Hindu King PALLAVA was a TAMIL prince and second student of lord Buddha (Gautama Siddhartha)-(Enlightened One) from ancient India is traditionally credited as the transmitter of Chan Buddhism to China, and regarded as its first Chinese patriarch. According to Chinese legend, Bodhidarma also began the physical training of the monks of Shaolin Monastery that led to the creation of Shaolin kung fu. Kung Fu originated from Shaolin temple with a base taken from Kalaripayattu. Kung Fu is not a local martial art in china before the aririval of Bodhidharma from India. It is a highly skilled profession that can be taught only in Shaolin Temple ( genuine). Chinese martial arts including Kung Fu havie their roots in India. It is through Buddhism did come to China from India.
