Asian countries incorporate so many more vegetables into their food than we do. That's why they're so healthy. This actually looks really delicious! And I love it that was short and sweet!

I made this today and was so flavorful! My husband and I ate 2/3 of it all by ourselves and he doesn't even like cilantro but I didn't tell him it was in there until he was already shoveling forkfuls into his mouth. I'm looking forward to bringing this to a party this summer.

My husband and father in law also hate coriander (cilantro) -but I sneak it into soo many dishes and they don’t even realise haha. They love pico de gallo and I always load that up with coriander. Thanks for the feedback, I am definitely making this for dinner to go with an Asian style pork belly tomorrow!

I personally think it's a great spin on the original Viet salad. I'd totally do this using the Napa cabbage sometime. When I buy Napa cabbage, it's always too much to use for one thing, so that's a great idea to use it instead of normal cabbage. I think adding fried shallots would make your salad even more scrumptious, though. :)

I make this often, it’s called Goi. The only difference is I don’t put oil in my dressing

That’s right. I’m Vietnamese and we don’t add oil into the dressing. But I would try this dressing.

Is there a difference between rice vinegar and rice wine vinegar?

Yes, but either will work in this recipe :)

As so many viewers commented on the oil and cabbage, I reckon if you are from Vietnam then you would agree this is not authentic. VN Chicken salad never used chinese cabbage, only classic cabbage and there are many modified recipe but still i haven't seen one with chinese cabbage. Also, i have never seen dipping fish sauce made in oil and again no VN used oil in their recipe as the oil does has no purpose in the preparation.

It still looks amazing to me and I grew up eating goi ga. :) It looked familiar enough to what I ate growing up, that I'm fine with it - plus there are more veggies in the form of red bell pepper. I would add fried shallots to make it even better, though. :)

The oil makes it easier for the dressing to stick to the salad and not pool in bottom of bowl.

Well , it’s not used as a dipping sauce ! It’s a salad dressing . And they have oil .

This is NOT Vietnamese salad. Quite a few of ingredients are wrong.
