• Alco RS3M on Passenger...
This locomotive, originally built by ALCO in 1952 as D&H RS3 #4112, was overhauled by Morrison - Knudsen in 1975, into what the Delaware & Hudson considered a RS3M. These were nicknamed Clubfoots, and lasted on the D&H for some time. When it was rebuilt, #4112 was renumbered to #1976, painted red white and blue, and became one of the D&H's Bicentennial locomotives. Eventually renumbered to #506, it would end up on the Tioga Central RR, and then the Western New York & Pennsylvania, as #406. It was from here the A&A purchased it to accommodate their rising freight demands.
On Sept 22nd, 2024, #114 was substituted for #113 , which had developed a minor mechanical issue overnight. While it was fixed by the next week, this run was covered by the RS3m- I was fortunate enough to ride in the cab of the ALCO while they performed the run-around to couple up to the Gon.
Passenger trains currently are being pulled by ALCO steam locomotive #18 until the weather dips, wherein #113 will likely take back the reigns.
