Chin mount also works really bad in hot and humid places. The glue doesn’t stick well. For Motoradds the shipping fee to Europe is ridiculously high. So I will continue to search for the perfect mount

Good to know, Cheers. Would've been handy to see it applied to an especially tricky helmet but that's asking a lot. Good points made.

Nice. I've been on a similar journey and a few months ago stumbled upon the motorad mount too. Its great

I went through the same sequence of mounts. The side mount worked really well and allowed for airflow which was good but it was bulky and complicated. The Chin Mount was great up until it failed and I used zip ties to keep the camera on. Summers where I live are pretty hot so that’s not necessarily an adhesive fail but I think a function of how small the actual mount is. I did also have to mod the mount to fit standard gopro mounts which wasn’t great. The Motoradds has worked well so far and I think the much larger surface area will prevent issues. Having said that, most of the force seems to be up and down so it’s narrow in that axis so there could be problems later but I’m happy with it so far.

I have just bought a Chin mount version for my Schuberth C5, as you say the quality is not brilliant for the money and I also cannot get a Go Pro rubber damped clip to fit properly, I will try it for a while and see how it turns out. The Motoradds version looks a very clever design.

I also have a C5 and simple curved mount on the side is what worked for me. All other options either blocks the front vent or the flip up button. Being able to remove all the arms when I am not recording leaves the helmet with a very clean look.

The one I have on my E2 does allow the GoPro rubber to fit, which seems to confirm variable quality or the newer ones have a slightly improved design 🤔?

@@davidz8 hello! I have the C5 helmet, may I kindly ask you to type in the exact name of the chin mount that you ultimately went with? I will be going for the DJI action 5. Thank you

Good info👍🏻 Agree WRT Chinmounts the quality is not there & a bit variable IME. I have an Arai one which doesn’t allow the genuine GoPro rubber to fit & a newer Shuberth one that does allow the rubber shock absorber to fit. They sent a secondary stick on safety tether with both which has a cord but didn’t want this flapping about

I saw that chin mount one and I thought it was too much money, now I saw your video I'm sure I wouldn't want that one. But the other one I'll look at for sure.🙂

I have a Dango gripper one, fine on the road but just doesn't grip enough and moves if riding aggressively off road. Not tried any of the stick on ones as some ACU events don't allow anything added on helmets so would fail scrutineering, although not seen this fully enforced at the races I've done. Years ago GoPros came in a box mounted in a plate with the base on it, thankfully I saved these and have now cut them up so I can zip tie my GoPro to the chin area on all my helmets. I'm an adv/trail guy so all my helmets have a chin vent and you can pass the zip ties thru that. Added a bit of foam (cut from a bit of that floor mat stuff) to the back of the plate to make it fit better to my helmets and protect them, and this works brilliantly for me, I can swap it between helmets, easily take it off when I don't want it on there. Also find using an allen bolt instead of the thumb screws that you used in the vlog just makes it all a bit tidier and easy to tighten up and set/loosen etc. 👍🙏

The overall best I’ve found is a Chin Mount or GoPro mount with some sugru placed around the edges to secure it in place. It will never come off until you want it to, or you possibly get into a wreck where it hits that spot. That way you get as small a profile as possible and it’s more secure than just 3M adhesive.

I've got 2 Chin Mounts for my 2 helmets, Arai Quantic and Tour X4, using my insta360 OneRS, had absolutely zero issue with them over several 1000 miles. Either the adhesive failing or vibration. Would highly recommend. That being said, that flexi thing looks like a good idea, if not somewhat ugly.

odd, my chin mount for my shoei gt air 2 allows my gopro mount to click and lock in place (and push the rubber wedge in) just fine. wonder why the one for the gt air 3 doesn't work the same. btw i don't think the rubber piece does anything for vibrations, i think it's just a wedge to keep the release tabs from compressing and unlocking the mount. to make the 3m double sided tape hold more securely, i heat it and the helmet surface with a heat gun, then pressed down and kept pressure on it with a woodworking clamp to keep pressure on it for a full day. i think 3m's instructions recommend that, anyway, for best long-term adhesion.

I too was very disappointed with the Chin Mounts product I had a LS2 Explorer helmet just 2 narrow strips of M3 adhesive pad then the arms of the GoPro connector didn't even lock into position. For what it was a very expensive disappointment. The mount you've tested looks very good be interesting to see if you have any issues with it going forward

The "Chin Mount" brand is grossly overpriced, probably cost them a hand full of change to make it in China. I ordered one and when i complained about fit they gave me some snarky answer and didn't offer any solutions, don't waste your money. I now have this Motoradd and the 2nd option the chin claw. Chin claw is good for quick on and off and you can get them reasonably cheap, worth it to have as back up. I like the Motoradd best for it secure footing on helmet. Lots of surface area to stick on the helmet and the feel is very secure. Good review. Ride Safe
