@@victorchinchillvas RAT's is in my EDC as well as both Glock and Sig 365. Much easier to carry that RATs than a CAT (although I have a bunch of CAT's as well, they don't get carried on my person the way the RAT's does). Shawn, thanks for the stories you're telling and allowing others to benefit from the insights of those with real world experience. I find your show both entertaining and informative

@@brianmcdonough9109 Exactly, gotta have some RATs and CATs around, each in their respective spots. I also throw in a couple Snakestaff Systems ETQs, for good measure. They aren't TCCC approved, and have mixed reviews, but they are very compact and seem to lock down pretty dmn well. Stay safe out there.

I've lived in the Suburbs of Filthydelphia, PA far far from this city of lawlessness and disorder. my whole life.. we just had our FIRST car jacking at our local gas station .not more than 3 mnutes from our home. Three scumbags for Filthyville w/ long criminal histories beat a man up, took his car.. were caught by Warrington PD .. We also had a murder occur here by an ILLEGAL ALIEN a few years ago. drunk he struck a senior citizen who just got off the bus from a trip to Atlantic City that day.. This illegal alien had three prior arrests for DWI and still this jack-off weasel scumbag Judge allowed him to remain.. this scumbag ran her oover around 2230hrs .. drove off.. left a 'FENDER" at the scene, which had a VIN .. he was arrested.. so no place is safe .. the answer: a keen dog w/ an attitude and a gun !

Completely agree! As a single woman that works a night shift in the local hospital of a tourist town I always pay attention to who's around me. I was assaulted when I was younger and have also had my share of stalkers. I promised myself I would never be a victim again. I left the shithole that is Illinois for the free state of Wyoming many years ago and have never been unarmed since the day I left there. It drives me crazy to see my friends walk around with their face in their phone knowing there's no way they have any idea who's around them or watching them. I also hate when a woman says "I don't think I could shoot someone"! I would bet if they had been assaulted in their past or their children were in danger that mindset might change. Maybe anyway lol or maybe not.... people are dumb 😂

Hi, I'm a year late, but I saw your comment and I thought I would respond. My dad has a bad arm. It's twisted and hardened from a disease he had at the age of 2. He can't use his elbow or his wrist, and two of his 3 fingers are completely unusable. It's also several inches shorter than his good arm because he was just a child when the disease took hold and it never grew right. He never let it stop him. He sometimes had a hard time finding a job because employers were quick to make snap judgments, but my dad never let that stop him. He broke one potential employer's desk in half with his good hand after he realized he wasn't going to get the job. Just to prove a point. (I don't necessarily recommend doing that lol) He never let me say the words "I can't do it" because there's nothing you can't do. There's nothing you can't figure out and accomplish. The only limits are the limits you place on yourself. I hope things are going well for you.

Great advice! Single mom here. I have 3 diff types of guns. I have outdoor solar lights and a motion light. And my dog is a blue heeler/australian shepherd. He barks to alert me no matter who pulls in. He would give me enough alarm to grab my gun and get ready. I always make eye contact in public. My head on a swivel. I live in a smaller town in Michigan of 25,000 and growing fast. Everyone wants out of the city. Just couple months ago in my town, a family moved here from down state and the 17 yr old son tried kidnapping a little girl out of her back yard. The only thing that saved her was her 13 yr old brother shot him twice with his SLINGSHOT. not shittin ya. Everyone was proud of him. Just goes to show, ya never know.

When I was young, my grandpa told me “the only reason I came back from Nam was because the US Army gifted me the most powerful weapon in the world; wise noncommissioned officers.” As I’ve journeyed through my own military career as well as post military, I often think about that statement. The most dangerous thing in the world is a man with experience, and the humility to rely on the good judgement of other experienced men. Shawn, you have a lot of experienced men on this show and I am eternally grateful for the free wisdom. Thankyou Sir.

Regarding situational awareness: Watched a YT video recently, and the KZbinr was talking about going to the gas station at 2 AM to get some gummy worms. Said he walked up to the door and happened to glance in...and saw a guy with a chainsaw, which was running, standing in the store. He said he turned around, got back into the car, and left. Was funny how he said he didn't know what a guy was doing in the gas station with a chainsaw, but he didn't need to be involved in it.

My wife, and I, were attacked at in IHOP in Fredericksburg, Virginia, this summer. It was zero dark 30, and a twenty something drunk homeless dude that had been allowed by the waitresses to empty the unfinished drinks at the table next to our booth, turned without notice and began to approach our booth. I anticipated the attack and was on my feet when he was 5 feet away, with utensils 🍴 in my hand. He had pulled a dagger from a sleeve hidden under his left forearm. I knew he was hiding something because it was hot outside and he was wearing a long sleeve shirt. He was shocked that I stepped forward and didn’t cower. He backed off. Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene in 5 minutes. He was arrested and a few week ago ago convicted of assault and battery. Stay away from International House of Pandemonium’s. Especially after 10 pm

I'm not sure what your point is. However I understand what you're saying. I thought it was him just being nervous. As this was the very start of them sitting down with all the cameras around before the actual podcast started. But idk, just my 2 cents.

Could get you in trouble, I'd say the 3 second rule is better, no longer, and then just look away, not lowering the gaze.

Love the 365 two tone. Get a loader as it is a tight fit. Unbelievable designs like you said. Design what you want first then build everything else around it. Favorite is the P320 X5 Legion. What is you fav SIg you own?

The tourniquet he’s talking about but couldn’t remember the name is the RATS tq. It’s very controversial and many people DO NOT recommend it. Research it well before making a decision.

Situational awareness. I was alone at a gas station in Iowa with my mom and a hooptie pulled up with two dudes and I immediately told her to get in the car and she didn’t get it. Long story short they tried to rob us and I almost ran one of them over. I had to physically throw my mom and the dogs in the car because she was so oblivious.

These are all extremely good points. I practiced still to this day, for 20 years, to draw from appendix or 5 o’clock with speed to get front site on a light switch. A door knob. Any smaller target, with accuracy. So the grip of said pistol feels comfortable almost like muscle memory even though Shawn already dispelled that myth

Service dog, awesome! Good inventory on the rest of the EDC, but these days it's time to spend some cycles focusing on a good 'electronic countermeasures EDC' IMHO; FOB's, phone hacking, credit cards, ... It's not always what you can see, but what you can't (see) and usually the treat has happened electronically before you realize it.
