My grandmother lives alone in Mexico in small town. They don't have access to life alter (or other thing of its kind). I bought her this so that in case she fell or something were to happen, her neighbors could know to check on her. I made sure to let them know to be aware of the alarm and what it meant.

I need one of these because I have a heart condition and I'm always by myself and I'm hoping there is something where I can alert people that I need help when I cannot scream or take the time to make a phone call. The problem with these is.. the sound. All of the sounds are the same and they all sound like some disrupted car alarm that nobody pays attention to. We need something with a sound that people will be inquisitive of and be drawn to so that they will come to help. Maybe even one that says help!

the pin release is firmly snug in as you can see on the video. It took a while for me to take it off. on the other hand if there are keys attached to it, just make sure you don't pull the alarm system itself. pull it as a whole. hope that help

I was given one of these by my dad when I was like 15 and I can remember I took it to school and my bag got dropped off the back of my chair and onto the floor and the alarm went off and I couldn't find where the pin had gone and everyone was telling me to stop the noise but I didn't know what to do and was panicking. It was so embarrassing

As someone who is blind and a guide dog handler, I’ve found myself in situations where these alarms have really been handy, like when loose dogs are out and about and approach to interact with or even attack my dog. Within seconds of me setting my alarm off, someone always comes to see what’s going on and as soon as they see the dog, they come and control it or get someone to come help them get the dog before it gets to my dog or attacks, so they really are great little devices. :)

These are good self defense for travelers. My mom went to a dangerous island on a business trip and obviously she can't bring a loaded firearm to another country. So I went to Walmart. They have a section that contains fire alarms, burglar alarms, weather alert systems, door locks, padlocks, security lights, fire extinguishers etc. That being said, these were also in that isle. I bought her a Sabre personal alarm 130db's. That thing is ear piercing. Even if no one is nearby, when she pulls it, it'll startle the attacker for sure. I jump every time even when I know it's coming, so imagine the look one the attackers face when the pin is pulled unexpectedly. lol
@yohlahGo5 жыл бұрын
serial killers would be like: "oh more noise? now they can't hear your screams"
@capriciousvirtuosity81606 жыл бұрын
I think the idea is to hurt the attackers ears, since all of the sales people say things like "ear piercing sound", but you can clearly see this guy turns it on and stands near it with no problem. I think it would be much more effective if it sounded like a traditional alarm. This thing sounds like a children's toy, if it where to sound like a regular alarm, it might work in deterring an attacker or attracting help due to the familiar sound.

Once home , I attached my Honda Civic's key chain to it and tried it , the alarm does ring when I separate the upper part and sees that needle but th etruth is that so far I wonder how does this part will help not to lose my keys. From remote Algeria, I appreciate your support LBS.

Not sure how effective that would be in a crucial situation. The fight or flight stress hormones would be in high alert. Not sure I would take precious seconds to pull a pin out of a gadget. Run Rabbit Run !!!!!!
@markus46985 жыл бұрын
Which is why you gotta practice. Maybe take the battery out and just practice pulling the gadget countless times until it's very automatic and not something you have to consciously think about. Then you'll have no problem performing that movement in an emergency.

Not a bad ideah. Anything could help. Maybe that with some pepper spray and a bright tactical flash light. The alarm alone wouldn't do too much. The noise could scare the attacker, they sure as hell wouldn't want to risk any attention. Give you a chance to run to a well lit area.

kinda pointless in a way honestly, if i heard it somewhere id just be annoyed by the sound not thinkin a person is in danger
@knightlykin14998 жыл бұрын
When I worked as a security officer a while back, our company required us by policy to investigate any alarm sound we heard. Including car alarms etc. Every time we heard a car alarm even if the guy managed to turn it off we were required to make contact and ensure he was the owner. Cops do the same as well. Regular citizens will look to see what it is. Any police or security in the area will immediately investigate it. And it's ear piercing, it'll scare the attacker. Not to mention, it's better than nothing at all. I'd rather have an ear piercing alarm than dying silently. But if you don't like this you can look into gas operated personal alarms. It uses compressed air to make an ear piercing screech. It's designed so that you can aim it at the attackers ear and press. It'll actually hurt them and cause their ears to ring like a flash bang. Lot's of security guards will actually carry those so if someone tries to strangle them to death, they discharge the aerosol alarm in the attackers ear forcing him to let go and block the sound.

So…. It’s a wonderful device to direct police to your corpse. Got cha. By the way… if you hit it with a hammer or equivalent…. It will break and stop. Also… with false alarms going off so often.. no one pays attention to them much like car alarms. Which is why a silent emergency alert sent to dispatchers will never be a thing. ( for soooo many false alarms ) Notice…. No one came running out to help when her alarm was going off. Better than nothing? Sure…. I mean a terrified scream would draw more attention. But it too can be silenced. The fact this is the MAIN LEGAL .. self defense allowed to be used in the UK. Not a gun… not mace… not a stun gun… not a knife over 3 inches….not a bat… not a pole… even a fork counts as a weapon… by the way… one can buy one take the pin out. Give the pin to an accomplice… who will then put his pin in her alarm… and it’s over with. Again… better than nothing… sure…. But is it pretty much nothing… YES.
