- Head back to Seluvis’ dungeon. There’s something else hidden there, and when you find it, I have to say: keep calm. What you already saw and what you will see IS as bad as you think it is. And you’ll understand better why EVERYONE hates Seluvis. - On that note, I would recommend to give the potion to Gideon. It primarily serves as a way to progress Seluvis’ quest without turning Nepheli into a doll. And gives the satisfaction of knowing you screwed Seluvis over. - There are 18 total larval tears in the base game and 9 more in the DLC - go wild! - A poem for the intelligencers and the weary: Past the smoldering wall, ‘Neath the perched corvid, Seek the cradled ruins, For the velvet treasure yet unguarded. - The greatsword is in fact a reference to Berserk (and you should equip it to really understand how). ''I've got so many levels!'' Merg exclaimed at level 57, as usual comprehending the world on a different plane than ours, seeing in the dullest blades only the potential for the greatness of his unfaltering skill. One must Git Gud. The lesson the cherry means to teach us. To teach the world... He would show now, to the lands between, a different set of weapons, a different library of spells, so that they might know that it is not the blade they must fear, but the cherry himself, regardless of his arsenal, and regardless of his wardrobe. Should all the weapons turn to rust, should all plate degrade, or should all the cherrys' strength, speed and health be drained, the cherrys' true power will fade only with the cherry, and with his true power, the cherry does not fade. This is the way of the +2 Highland axe. The way of the cherry. His own ancient art, that puts all other schools of combat to shame. All except perhaps... the way of the double. It is with the first that the cherry prevails... but it is with the combination of the two schools that the cherry is invincible. Without the knowledge of one, the other make your opponent untouchable. One must always understand the enemies skill, less they focus on the tools, and that which is not true power, and has no true meaning to a great knight. One must know to expect to not expect the the double, or one might try to expect it and fail. If these methods can be utilized, in unison and both thoroughly comprehended, a warrior can become untouchable. There are few who can reach this potential, and become sword-masters above the pathetic lower gods. One sits at the top of their scarlet tree... but weather they could prove a match for the cherry, would remain to be seen. As the cherry cut down the hell-hounds in the east, the gods trembled. Perhaps they would not prove to be even a challenge. But if they did... the duel would be one never before seen, not from Marika or Radagon... not from the clashes of the queen Rennala. It would be even greater than the grand clash in Caelid, where Radahn fell. And the blood and rot would flow into the see for days... for years... Would the lands between recover from the outcome?

Yeah you were right about Mohgwyn, it is *pretty* late game. The enemies there (that aren't the zombies) will one-hit you with your current vigor, and two or three hit you with the vigor you had before. It's also the beautiful place on top of the mountain that you were admiring when talking to Blaidd. In Caelid, there is one tunnel to the south of the first grace that will be worth going to, especially for your build right now. I won't tell you what they are obviously. There's another reason to go there anyways and you might find that out as soon as you enter if you do go there. Also, thanks for reminding me that I still haven't used Carian Piercer and Cannon of Haima, at level 183.

Fun fact. Dark Souls and Elden Ring naturally have many parallels as Elden Ring is somewhat of a spiritual successor to Dark Souls, but one interesting one I've realized has to do with lightning and dragons. In Elden Ring those two are tightly associated with each other, as dragons use lightning as a weapon constantly, both in lore and in-game. In Dark Souls on the other hand, Lightning is the number one weapon used AGAINST dragons, and is what eventually what led to their fast decline. I find it very interesting how the two series have such a big difference in their lore, yet one that clearly draws a parallel between the two series.

Merg *gracing* us with Elden Ring again! Surprised you switched to sorcery but honestly I think it shows that you love the game and want to try out as much as possible, which is something few people do with games in general but especially ER since it's such a big game. Ekzykes is kind of special to me, because he's the first dragon I saw in the game (i got teleported by that chest and wondered around in Caelid) so I'm happy to see you fight him. There is a secret you missed in Seluvis' hidden chamber that will be kind of important later on. Also Mohgwyn palace is a pretty late game area but I suggest beating it somewhat soon and then return to where you were since you can overlevel that area really easily. THE FESTIVAL IS NIGH!!

Ah yes, the little peek into a vary infamous red lake. The place where you fought the Dragonkin Soldier is also one of my favourite places in the game. Frozen Lightning Spear is... cool. But honestly I didn't end up using it much. There are other better/faster spells. Oh no, you're going to get Vigor-checked lol. Carian Slicer and Carian Greatsword are two of my favourite sorceries. Cannon is a strong sorcery but I never really used it. When I played sorceries, I did it like a melee character, using Slicer and Greatsword. If you do certain peoples quests you get access to some amazing spells, some of which also rank among my favourites. Meteoric Ore Blade is super fun to use. There's another katana somewhere that requires intelligence that's also very good, and a lot of people (including myself) love it. I also did a dragon spell playthrough. Those are also very fun to use and a lot of them are very strong. They're all so varied as well, giving you access to magic damage, cold damage, fire, even rot. Finally you got to Moghwyn Palace using the medal lol. It's a very interesting place...

This was such an incredible episode! I wasn't expecting a change of build so soon but I love it, It's very fun to see you trying out new things If you liked playing around with the whip then I would definitely recommend exploring a bit more of the Caria Manor, especifically around the middle section, there are 2 special items there that are very interesting There is a cave right next to the first site of grace in Caelid that you should check out, it's pretty important! Sorceries are a very good source of damage, they are fast, can be charged to deal extra damage and have very decent range, you should buy the Carian Slicer from Sellen and try it out, I would say it's an essential spell for sorcerers, you can even use it while jumping or running! Even though the fight against the dragon didn't go that well, you had the right idea casting sorceries to his head, it's a very good strategy to take them out, especially the magic bow The ambush spell usage on the pumpkin heads was really smart! The magic bow can be used from a greater distance than other spells, and can be charged, so it's great to use as a sniper
@DaithíMcBrádaighАй бұрын
Lmao, 15 seconds in & you've gotten death blighted. Yep, pretty much everyone's first experience with the Basilisks. Anyway tip time (yes I'm the same person who owns the Flowey account that usually gives tips, I like to switch up accounts every now & then) If you're deciding to try a sorcery build (one of the most fun builds honestly) I am once again recommending you get Terra Magica. Which is found at the end of a cave at the Western side of Raya Lucaria accessed from the actual lake. Seluvis also has a few very good sorceries, you'll be able to purchase them if you give Gideon the puppet potion & go back to Seluvis (still don't trust him, he's even less trustworthy than Gideon, just buy the sorceries & be done with him) I still also recommend getting the weapon from Caria Manor because it does work quite well for the kind of battlemage build you're going for. A reminder for how to get it. On the raised walkways where all the spooky ghost enemies spawn, if you go left at the first pillar & then forward when you'll see a couple roofs you can jump down onto, the one that has a ladder going into it is where the weapon is. And that's all I have for you this time, looking forward to seeing your battlemage build, one of the builds I had the most fun with.

As a magic enjoyer builder myself, I must say Holy shit Merg is a chad You don't need vigor, just don't get hit right But seriously, you don't realistically need that much mind + flasks, because the more mind you have the less flasks you need simply because in practice you would never even get to use all those spells, because they're hard to miss and total potential damage of all the mana spent with the flask restoration is too high while the chance of getting hit is quite big Anyway! I love carian sorcery and I was a bit jealous because you found the scepter I was hunting for, but since the bideo helped me locate it, my thanks. Sorcery is cool, and you can also charge them or do multiple follow-ups. Like with the cannon or bonk spell I believe. And later in the game more cool sorceries will be open. So go ham, have fun. 25:20 - try this weapon next - when you rebuild into strength. And yeah this 100% Dragonslayer from Berserk. You can find it in any souls games and elden ring has A LOT of references to Berserk. Giant glowing tree, sword graveyards, Greatsword, ash of war that you can find in Caelid goes very well with Greatsword to make a reference, armor sets, enemy design. Basically it's easier to say what is not a reference then what is. Can't wait for the Festival of Radahn! Gigachad ahead, try jumping!

Even though it is funny and great for content, and you're having fun so far, I highly recommend to get your vigor up. Weapons don't have significant scaling until higher weapon level. And spell damage are moreso teid to what staff of seal you're using (and which staff/seal is best is based on how much int/fth you have). So early game you really only wanna get the minimum stats to use whatever you're interested in, and put points into the main survival stats. Vigor is very important and getting it to 40 asap will make rest of the game a lot less stressful. Mind and end are also important so you should balance leveling out and get those stats to a comfortable amount. Most of the arguments are "you don't need health if you don't get hit", but truth be told no new player's gonna reach that level of skill. I have a few friends that have done thousands of hours of challenging running and even them find consistently dodging every attack in the game hard. Tldr: focus on leveling vig, mind, end, and the weapon you're using. Have fun. Why be glass canon when you can be a steel one?

As a more technical tip: although Star Shower seems like it deals less damage than something like your normal spells, this is because of how defense works! Enemies have both flat defense _and_ relative defense (called "negation"), so at lower scaling, multi-hit spells deal less damage. Very simple example: if an enemy has 100 defense and 20% magic damage negation, and your spell deals only 200 damage per hit, then that becomes only 80 damage after the defenses - so -60% damage. BUT once you get higher and higher levels and your damage per hit is, say, 400, then it only gets reduced to 240 - which is only -40% damage. And so on and so forth!
@HaarunenАй бұрын
People often say there is no difficulty slider in Elden Ring. They're wrong, the Vigor stat is right there!

The new mage build is actually really cool, and if you want to improve on that whip that you were trying out at the beggining, you should go back to get a hidden weapon at Ranni's manor, take the elevator down before the wolves and the golden seed, and then jump down at the side of the wall, and in there you will get probably one of the coolest whips in the game. Also another tip, if you Do feel a bit squishy with this new build, you can always rebirth again, I think everyone has already told you but there are quite a few larval tears in the whole game, so you can always up your vigor a little bit if you feel like it.

Honestly, you do get a pretty generous amount of Larval Tears throughout the game, so the occasional respec to test some new stuff might not be a bad idea. There are also two things I think you should know. -A large chunk of all the spells in the game (and quite a few of the one’s you’re using, like Loretta’s Greatbow or Carian Piercer) can be charged, so I’d recommend reading their descriptions or testing them to see how they work -Now that you’ve made the switch to intelligence, there’s a potentially useful talisman hidden before the Red Wolf of Radagon, if you feel like paying the academy another visit

Star shower is a pvp sorcery basically. It's annoying barrage usually guarantees some chip damage while the singular projectiles from the other spells players can dodge more reliably. There's a sorcerer named Gowry in Caelid who you can buy more sorceries from if you do a task for him. One of them is Night Maiden's Mist, one of my favorite sorceries. Very helpful, although cheesy. (or it might be in Selia, the sorcerer town near Gowry, whom you've already kinda seen. The place with the phantom sorcerers with chiseled stone heads) Either way, there's a couple more sorcery related things in Caelid.
