Another great video Tom. As a 'native' of Northern England, born in Rothbury, Northumberland. I've always had an affinity for things Scottish Gaelic and Scandinavian Viking. To me that is my ancestry and I'm proud to share in it. I'm no historian by any means but Northerners are Northerners. Thanks for all you share.

Thanks Tom. I'm reminded when I took medieval history in college and my teacher telling us that if you want the truth research as many different sources that you can. If you can't find multiple sources than you can't make assumptions of what the truth really is. For me what is most important is to be authentic about yourself and honor your ancestors. In the end that is all we can do.

I like that theory! That makes a lot of sense. I think a lot of the viking history can be distorted because most of the history is found from sources of people who didn't like the vikings, like from writings from France or what is now known as modern England. I heard that the viking "Raids" were not just raping, pillaging and plundering but that they were strategic attacks to fight back against empower Charlemagne. People nowadays think vikings were bloodthirsty killers because that is what was written about them by their enemies. I like that theory because it makes more sense to me and it also feels right on a deep level of my soul. Another great video Tom! Thank you for sharing. Skål!

In my opinion, and this is more and more acknowledged in the academic world, I think the vikings were something between traders and pirates. They certainly weren't all raiders, there were probably a few, but I think it would have been a minority.

Another excellent episode Tom; you always do such a great job sharing the culture and heart of your country with others. I'm glad you spoke of the Viking name issue the way you did; there will always be those that wish to try and justify their prejudices by casting negativity on others. Here in the USA some labeled the Native Americans as savages; I guess every culture needs it's villain. Your explanation of the Viking name makes the most sense; the truth be known we are all connected (and even had the same language until 3000-3500 BC) and only desire to live in peace with our environments, enjoying this journey we all call life. Yes there are bullies and extremists in each culture, but they are really the minority. Have a great day dear brother and thanks again for sharing your heart.

I love when you talk about the history of the vikings and your heritage Tom . I being from the USA don't have much knowledge on the Vikings. With what I know of the whole worlds past is there was violence with it all unfortunately. would say alot of the people with negative opinions on the Vikings don't come from the places where the Vikings originated and are really just speculating. I really trust what you say about the vikings . The captions did nor work for me Tom. I think you are a great craftsman! That new pan looks great 👍 !! Thanks for posting this video Tom!! Tom👍👍 Great job trying to relate your ideas and projections of the Viking name and explaining in your way that the ancient people of Scandinavia weren't all raiders and killers. This theory fits what one can see today of the relics left behind, the beautiful artwork, buildings, ships, tools, weapons, the hard work that was done to survive and also the legacy to be found. Interesting and thought provoking, thanks for bringing this to light. Nice trip to the Beech forest again, the weather is changing quickly but the Ravens still welcomed you. The cooking plate looks perfect, worked great also as the sandwich looked delicious. The strong cup of Cimbrer coffee😉made the day official. Great video, well done as always. Yes it’s true, in one of the ancient Muslim palaces there is a wooden bannister with runes carved into it...not only were our ancestors traders but also bodyguards to powerful people. Vikings (explorer/travellers) went East and West. In the West they visited Northern America a long time before Columbus, the national cat of Norway is the Norsk Skoggkatt, otherwise known as the Norwegian Forest Cat (of which I’ve been lucky enough to share the last 15 years of my life with) mated with local wildcats in Maine (as it’s called now) the resulting offspring is the Maine Coone...a huge cat with a heart of gold. The Skoggkatt was taken on board as pest control.
