An assistant professor of economics at Indian Institute of Technology-Madras has resigned from his post alleging incidents of caste-based discrimination at the premier educational institution.
Professor Vipin P. Veetil’s resignation email, which is now public, reads: “There were multiple specific instances of discrimination and I shall be pursuing appropriate action to address it…. One of the curious phenomena I have observed here is that the Bayesian prior among many is that caste discrimination is a rare occurrence. My own experience, and conservation with members of SC and OBC communities, suggests that the prior is far from true.”
The professor from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT-M claimed that while discrimination comes in several forms, it comes from people in position of power and irrespective of gender and their claimed political affiliations.

Very good presentation. Staffs should be educated on the ill effects of discrimination based on caste and religion . Strict punishment should be enforced for breaching. Independent body should be engaged to investigate on complaints. False complaints should be punished too

It's very unfortunate to hear about the communal bias and based on the frequent incident, it exposes the IIT M management shortfalls. We can also find this in various public and private sectors.... certain communities dominance and discrimination against other communities..... Really painful to tolerate these attrocities. For sc/st special officer is available in every psu, government offices. So you can give complaints. If allegations are true they will take severe action. In every state capital you are having sc/sT Anayam. To avoid discrimination during promotion interviews in PSU s one SC/ST special officer will sit in interviews and ensure proper percentage is given to them. You can also give complaints to parliamentary panel.
