I had autoplay on while reading Lord of the Rings and this came on as I reached the part where Frodo, Sam, and Gollum reach the Morgul Vale and the dead city of Minas Morgul, with its deathly, pale light set within a valley darker than the night sky and a putrid, steaming river running in between. The armies of Mordor, all in black, have marched out of the cavernous gates with the Witch King of Angmar at their head and behind them, east over the Ephel Duath, an omnious red light can be seen coming out of Gorgoroth, lighting up the peaks and ridges of the mountains like jagged teeth. What perfect scenery for this music.

I always wondered why I was so drawn to Nordic music and obsessed over the North half regions of Africa. Today I discovered I am Afro Scandinavian! 🌈💗💗💗I did some digging into my ancestry and discovered so many historical intersections on how I came to even exist today. Like finding out Scandinavians had close relations with the regions in which my African heritage derives from. And how my ancestors ended up in a very specific region in America. That most of us weren't slaves (or became free slaves) that worked in demolishing slavery around the world + worked as traders of precious goods. 🪢 I decided I needed to blast this today and I feel so humbled. Not knowing my father I now feel so connected to the rest of my family. Thank you...thank you so much. 🫒

You should listen to more authentic nordic folk music too. Danheim is amazing but its full of electronic sounds which is not real folk music. I'd recommend you these artists: Wardruna, Heilung, Ivar Bjørnson & Einar Selvik's album: Hugsjá. Believe me, when you hear these artists, you will understand what I'm trying to tell you. But if you have time for one piece only, that must be Helvegen from Wardruna.
