@@VikingReacts The video CGI is pretty accurate about the details of the Bismark, the Hood, the sinking, gun turrets coming off etc. Amazing stuff, made by the gaming studio behind World of Warships. And the Bismark was sunk by it's own crew, to prevent it being capured.
@SetchDreskar3 жыл бұрын
@@impugnu7852 Indeed the only aspect incorrect about the bismarck sinking itself, and what gives evidence of the German crew being the one to sink it and not the insane amounts of damage put into the ship before, is that the Bismarck's bow slipped under the water first, which is what you see when crews scuttle the ship, and then it slipped under which caused it to rocket forward due to the way it slips through the water [think of squeezing a bar of soap underwater] and then it rolled over flipping its turrets out while it was already underwater. This is also what made locating the Bismarck so difficult because it didn't roll and then sink and thus was in a certain search radius of where it sank, but because of it rocketing forward underwater it was miles away from where it should have been. Other then that the video was incredibly accurate to what happened during the battle.
@Metal_Auditor3 жыл бұрын
@@impugnu7852 Yeah, but I do wish WG had used more accurate ship models and placement. Like in the first battle (Denmark Strait), they had them on the wrong side of each other, and in the final battle, they show a Town-class shooting at the Bismarck, when it should have been a County-class, and they could have used the ship model for Nelson to stand in for Rodney.
@mrknitterhemd83003 жыл бұрын
@@SetchDreskar the Hood didn't shot a full broadside salvo, the Hood chased the Bismarck but was slower and when the Hood couldn't hit the Bismarck because of the range of the guns , The Bismarck turned into a full broadside salvo and the Hood was in the position where it could only shoot its front guns. The Bismarck then shot an armor piercing shell through the wooden deck and it landed in the gun powder magazine blowing the ship into pieces. In the music video tho they show that the Hood and the Bismarck faced side to side

@@VikingReacts Go make a vid With Carolus Rex!! The most powerful Sabaton song!
@argantyr51543 жыл бұрын
In the beginning of the Video, you can hear the Radio in the beginning, when the are driving is talking about How the Bismarck have blown up the "The might cruiser Hood" That lead to the British Navy got the message that Bismarck must be destroyed at all costs and lead to Battle of The Denmark Strait. The Kriegsmarine was Nazi Germanys Navy. The Video was made with help from the company behind "World of Tanks" that needed some material to their game "World of Warships". And yes Sabaton really played on a boat in the "middle of nowhere". "From Wiki" (just a short version). Bismarck was the first of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. Named after Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, the ship was laid down at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg in July 1936 and launched in February 1939. Work was completed in August 1940, when she was commissioned into the German fleet. Bismarck and her sister ship Tirpitz were the largest battleships ever built by Germany, and two of the largest built by any European power. In the course of the warship's eight-month career under its sole commanding officer, Captain Ernst Lindemann, Bismarck conducted only one offensive operation, lasting 8 days in May 1941, codenamed Rheinübung. The ship, along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, was to break into the Atlantic Ocean and raid Allied shipping from North America to Great Britain. The two ships were detected several times off Scandinavia, and British naval units were deployed to block their route. At the Battle of the Denmark Strait, the battlecruiser HMS Hood initially engaged Prinz Eugen, probably by mistake, while HMS Prince of Wales engaged Bismarck. In the ensuing battle Hood was destroyed by the combined fire of Bismarck and Prinz Eugen, which then damaged Prince of Wales and forced her retreat. Bismarck suffered sufficient damage from three hits to force an end to the raiding mission. The destruction of Hood spurred a relentless pursuit by the Royal Navy involving dozens of warships. Two days later, heading for occupied France to effect repairs, Bismarck was attacked by 16 obsolescent Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal; one scored a hit that rendered the battleship's steering gear inoperable. In her final battle the following morning, the already-crippled Bismarck was severely damaged during a sustained engagement with two British battleships and two heavy cruisers, was scuttled by her crew, and sank with heavy loss of life. Most experts agree that the battle damage would have caused her to sink eventually. The wreck was located in June 1989 by Robert Ballard, and has since been further surveyed by several other expeditions.. All Sabaton songs are about historical events, mainly Battles, Heroes/ Act of Heroism / Famous last stands etc. You should really check out their History Channel, The have a Historian (Indy Neidell) talking about the story behind their songs, and Indy is really amazing storyteller and they do have a video about Bismarch and how this Video was made).

Scuttling a ship is easy. In the Engineering spaces, the main engines are steam turbines and need large quantities of seawater to condense the steam back into water to be returned to the boilers. Small charges on the sea chests feeding this seawater to the engines, thus flooding the engine rooms. This I know from being an engineer on a Nimitz class carrier.

Sabaton is one of the best bands in the industry and that's an undeniable fact. Love em or hate em but no one does it like them. And Bismarck is a special song on top of its absolute epicness because the topic has been requested by fans so much that they felt like they couldn't just put it on an album so they released it as a single and had that mega collab with that game production company that made the battle ship game, I believe? Also the Bismarck is rumored to have been titled as male instead of the usual female for ships because it was just so special and was the most advanced battle ship of his time, I believe. Not an expert on the topic although I'm German but yeah. You're amazing by the way! Absolutely love that you put the lyrics into the videos, love the random history facts. That's how a reaction video should be done ❤️ Mad probs to you! My favorite music genres are metal, Kpop and classical music and whenever I watch Kpop reaction videos (with 99% of the songs obviously in Korean) most of the people reacting to it don't care to google the translations of the lyrics first and then say things like "Aw I can't understand what they're singing/rapping about because I don't know Korean". Yeah, no shit Sherlock... But that simultaneously lead to several lyric connected points going straight over their heads and that's just so sad because so many songs are not only absolute bangers but have so much meaning regarding the lyrics. It's just a waste. So thanks so much for the way you do it. I'm a fan ❤️

fun fact about the Bismarck. In the song the bands refers to the boat as He, this is actually true, while nautical tradition gives ships feminine pronouns, the German Admiralty felt that the Bismarck was to powerful to be referred to as a female.

Since you are into facts about this. The "enlisted crew" were in fact volunteers from all of Germany. And maritime law dictates that a ship is called a She, not the bismarck the admiralty of the KMS didn't want to dishonor the name of Otto Von Bismarck (Germany's first Reichs chanceller) so they called this ship in male call sign. Therefore the lyrics, "HE WAS MADE TO RULE THE WAVES ACROSS THE SEVEN SEAS"

Let me help you get the historical facts straight, which you begin to outline around 11:25. Yes, there were two ships of the Bismarck class. Bismarck and Tirpitz. But no, not both of them were on this mission. it had originally been intended, but RAF bombing runs delayed the completion of Tirpitz's construction and also damaged several other cruisers that were supposed to participate in that mission. Originally "Operation Rheinübung" was supposed to be comprised of both battleships and i think 4 or 5 heavy cruisers. Just imagine what damage that battlegroup could have done to the supply convoys that kept Britain alive.... But it was not to be. The window of opportunity for the mission was rapidly closing, and thus high command ordered the mission to go ahead with the only two operational ships: Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. Also, Prinz Eugen was not sunk in this operation - and in fact it survived the entirety of the war. After the war it was used by the US as target in nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll - and even then it refused to sink - at first anyway. Tirpitz spent most of its time in various fjords around Norway until it was eventually sunk by the RAF. While it existed, Tirpitz was a constant and major headache to the British, because they knew from the Battle of the Denmark Strait and the subsequent effort necessary to sink the Bismarck, how much of a threat Tirpitz's mere presence in the area posed to allied operations - not the least of which being the arctic convoys.

Then they have the Metal celebration trilogy: Metal Machine (lyrics made up of out of song names) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6e1i6ukbMpmnsU Metal Crüe (lyrics made up out of band names) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJOuqJmipcd2j80 Metal Ripper (lyrics made up out of song lyrics) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIKxh6WXgtmBm9U Also check out the "3 songs from Wacken 2019" video althgouh this will get blocked, so just watch that one without making a video...

Checking out new bands is a good thing. What about these two awesome bands from Germany? „Lord of the Lost“ with „Under the Sun“ -> Dark rock meets glam metal meets gothic meets synths meets clear vocals meets growls and screams. „Null Positiv“ with their power(ful) ballad „Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer“ showing the incredible voice and charisma of singer Elli Berlin. Or „Freiheit“ a typical, representative song for this female fronted German metal band. With English subtitles

It's amazing 99 percent of the people who REVIEW this song miss everything in it. The old Man is taking Sabaton Back in time to see the Ghost of Bismarck fight her Battles. He is the young Man who survived the sinking. He has the compass the Captain of Bismarck gave him. Their is a ton more info so go back and watch carefully. Thanks for noticing and realizing the Old Man was the survivor. That old Man just died recently. His Father was the Last living survivor of KM Bismarck.
@VikingReacts3 жыл бұрын
It is somewhat of a challenge sometimes as I do not really investigate that much. I do NOT want to be spoiled before I check anything out. Maybe that is why I look closer than some others? I don't know... But how can you not notice the old man with the watch? The watch is in so many shots. I even looked up the coordinates on the watch and found out that they are very close to where the ship was found in 1989 ;)
@bobbyscott51623 жыл бұрын
@@VikingReacts Look at the Pictures on his wall at the start of the video. it's a compass, not a watch. The lyrics that say they lie bound by Iron and Blood. That was a reference to Otto Von Bismarck. His nickname was the iron Chancellor.

@@VikingReacts also, react to Sabaton's latest live concert. They played Europe early 2020 before everything went to sh*t, and to give back to the fans who couldn't go to any more shows, they posted songs from their concert from different venues. Really recommend it! And about your reaction to "et livstid i krig" this is from their Carolus Rex album, which they made a two parter, one recorded in Swedish, another in English. The difference between the two albums are that the Swedish version follows the view of the soldier, while the English version follows the view of an observer, so you get a very different take on the song. You can check out and/or react to their English version, called "a life time of war".
