After watch the episode and seeing Lagertha's hair, I was like "I hope Siobhan makes a video on this hairstyle". Thank you! It looks great. There was another hairstyle on Floki's lady that looked fun too. The one with the two french braids on top. :-)

Helga! I only caught a glimpse but I know exactly the one you mean! I'll have to rewatch the scene to see, although I think they may just be two Dutch braids. And thanks Chica! You knew I'd do it! lol

As always, I love your work, and love you! My hair is fine and short just now, but I actually use your suggestions and techniques on my doll (I make dresses and put up at work for display).

Braiding and sewing? That is inventive!! :) I haven't watched the show, but your recreations are amazing!

Check out Janet Stephens work on Ancient Roman hair styles - hair sewing was very common then, and it would make sense that the technique was used elsewhere as well. I think it would have been common for Viking women as well.

Tara P Thanks Tara! Janet's actually a friend of mine outside of youtube!

Why does that not surprise me? :-)

Tara P thanks.. i checked out her channel.. It was so cool to see how hairstyles in those times were so intricate despite the fact they didnt have bobby pins and elastic bands.. And doing hair really took a while !!! :D

love it! I actually took a ton of screen grabs from Episode 1 because I might try to give the style a go.

This is awesome! Any chance you could do a braid tutorial where you go through the different varieties of braid? I'd never known about the caterpillar braid before.

When you do the sewing, how do you take it out??? It looks really cool and I want to try it, but I'm scared of how I'll be able to take out the thread.

Thanks! :)

How exactly does the sewing part work? do you just thread it between the two braids and tie it off at the end? I was confused on that part, but would love to try this hairstyle for myself.

That caterpillar braid is actually called a Chinese staircase braid ^_^

try a three strand slide up braid
@ladollyvita33310 жыл бұрын
I thought about it, but its a little impractical in this style. Because once you slide the two strands up the third, you get the cool pattern at the very top, but then there's nothing going on, on the lower portion of the braid, save the awkward tail of the third strand. I was looking for a braid that involved all strands, for the entire length of the hair.

What kind of products do you use when doing your braiding? You mentioned a pomade...do you have any favorites? Suggestions?
@ladollyvita3338 жыл бұрын
+Alia Kempton Well in this video I used a brand called Got2B, but recently I've loved Aveda's Control Paste! Hope that helps a little! I think experimentation is best though, because everyone is different!

I know it's not really relevant to hair, but is Vikings worth watching? What kind of genre is it?
@ladollyvita33310 жыл бұрын
Its a historic drama. Based upon Viking history, legends and some actual historical figures! I quite like it, and if you enjoy that genre you'll probably like it too!
