Best Lagertha tutorial I've seen. Far more accurate than any of the others, who just seem to do four French braids and a pompadour.

I can never get that cornrowed dutch braid on the side to work for me. You make it look so easy! You especially have beautiful Viking like hair!! I will keep trying because I love, love braids. I have long hair and braid my hair every night, but in a style that doesn't hurt my head while I sleep (don't know what this style is....)

So that's how to do it! I have really short hair, and am making a shield maiden outfit. So I will be wearing a wig, but I wan to get a really cool braided look. What sorts of braids would you suggest? I can buy a really long, straight wig so I have length to use to get volume for the braids. I figured maybe that would help cover the scalp part when braiding? What do you think?

Will you do Lagertha's and or her sheildmaiden's various battle hairstyles? I have both sides of my hair shaved for Hawaiian traditional and cultural reasons but I love the smart and practical braids I've seen the women on the show have. I don't know how culturally accurate they are but if they are practical I would love to learn how to do them!

The title pronounced as Earl or Yarl is in fact spelled Jarl, because J is said like Y in Norse languages.
@silvousplaits9 жыл бұрын
+Nicola Silver English-speaking viewers hear "earl," however, and that's what search term they use on the internet :)

I learned a little of the old language, and I think I remember the “ y” sound for the “J” . It’s kind of hard, but it’s beautiful.

I was literally watching Vikings last night.. The first episode of the 2nd season and I was planning how I'd do her hair for my Sally head for college... I couldn't for the life of me work out what she'd done with the back diagonal part, so thank you ^.^ the only thing I would say is I don't know if it was my tired eyes, but it looked like to me she threaded all the braids together with string of some sort rather than braiding them together? I'll test to see if it works when I come to do it next week? (: x

I also always wanted to see how dutch lace braiding went. Now I see. I'm gonna have to practice that. only one side picks up. I'm going to have to practice the section before you braid everything together. I have short hair do you think it would still look ok on short hair?

So beautiful, I love it ..you’re so talented. I can braid, but not like this . My braiding is usually the English Braid, I try Alpine braids as well. Braiding comes natural to me , must be my Celtic/Viking ancestry .
