TheEmsann Yeah. One very famous viking had red hair. Eiríkur rauði (Eric the red). He was a Norwegian viking who got into trouble in Norway, so he moved to Iceland. He there had a son named Leifur "heppni" Eiríksson (Leif Ericsson) who was a first generation Icelander. Eiríkur ended up discovering Greenland and Leifur ended up discovering America.

Yes, true thing. Most of the Vikings were dark haired, brown to nearly black. Blonde was really rare, same as nowadays. It is a prejudice that every nordic should be blonde and blue eyed.

Blonde, red, brown, but not so much black. Many different shades of blonde are in Scandinavia. Some so light that they appear white, and others so dark that they appear almost brown. To say blonde was rare in Scandinavia is odd. It isn't rare, it's very common, but so is having red or brown hair. But, having blue eyes was very common amongst vikings. It's just something that is common in this area.

@ Nouserz -Norway is located on the Scandinvian Peninsula. The Scandinavian and Jutland Penninsula were prominant areas of Iceland. As for England - that can make you part Anglo-Saxon. So yes. I see where your coming from Jeppe.. Im from the fjords around the artic circle with alot of viking history and seafaring tradition as a part of my identity. Boats was our game and gave us reach all the way to bagdad istanbul iceland greenland newfoundland.. But we didnt fight and plunder for all we got, we traded and run shit. And by assimilate I dont mean to completely forget your heritage. When my family came to America they still ate food from their original country and kept their religion and continued old customs. None of them considered themselves Italian/Polish/Iraqi, they always called themselves Americans. Some served in the military and were proud to live here. Lots of immigrants i know call Venezuala or Brazil "their country" and not america. If i lived in a different country i would be proud to live there.

What? O_o Where did you get that from? The Vikings were revered warriors, they served the Byzantine emperors as bodyguards in the famed Varangian Guard. Sure they got paid for it but family and honour was also very important for Vikings. I also want to mention that Vikings were also farmers, fishermen and merchants. In addition to that also being masters in wood- & jewellery crafting, shipbuilding and seafaring. What is this about thieves? Sure there were outlaws but their troubled everyone..
