You’re too young to probably really remember watching him play m, but Allen’s play is so similar to Brett Favre. He rushed like that, had the strength, the accuracy. They’re very similar players. No one comes close to Favre when it comes to mental and physical toughness except Josh Allen.

Signing Darnold to a long term deal would be the worst possible choice for this team. His contract would take up WAY too much cap space, hampering the rest of the roster. This team is so close, the ability to stack the roster on JJ's rookie deal is the only sensible option. Signing Darnold long term would be the death of this team.

Man our division is sooo good. All four of our teams are in top 9 points allowed on defense and 3 out of 4(minus the bears of course) are top 9 in points scored on offense. Thats a crazy stat. 3 of our yeasm(again minus the bears) are top 9 against the run per game...all 4 teams in the top 8 for turnover differential. If the bears had a few close games go their way their season would be looking much different. Detroit, Minnesota and Green Bay are top 6 in interceptions. Top 3 individual interception leaders, a lion and Packer tied with 7, then 6 for a Viking. Vikings have 2 of the top 10 sack leaders. Vikings and Packers in the top 8 of sack leaders. Well that's enough for me lol but those are some crazy number that I've never seen for a division before, not even close...I don't really hear people talking about it either.

Since the Vikings have clinched a playoff spot, I was wondering if the Vikings should try to get home field advantage throughout the playoffs but possibly risking injuries to key players or just keep the #5 spot and rotate the starters and backups so they have a healthy team going into the playoffs. Also, this gives the backups some playing time if in case one of the starters get injured in the playoffs.

IMO, the NFL should go back to 6 teams in the playoffs with the # 2 seed in the NFC & AFC getting a first round playoff bye into the Divisional Playoff round. I think the NFL playoff format prior to the start of the 2020 season when the league added a 7th playoff team was just fine. Having a first round bye means not only your not playing in a Wild-Card Game, but you need to only win 2 games, not 3 to get to the Super Bowl.

Don't ever feel sorry for the Lions because of injuries. Remember last year for the Vikings? Remember losing a CB in preseason to an ACL tear and another to a car accident? An entire season without JJ McCarthy? Remember playing 7 games without TJ? A couple without Jordan Addison? Several without Cashman? Ivan Pace? Every team deals with injuries. As for the Packers...they have no defense either. As for Darnold...what makes you think JJ won't be better? Have you seen guys like Nix, Daniels, Caleb, and even Maye play this year? Come on. I think people are getting way too hung up on this big bag theory nonsense. Before he came to Minnesota, Darnold was on his last leg, making 4 million bucks. Yes, he's had a good year, and he has had it because he's in Minnesota. He loves it here and just said as much last week. He isn’t gonna go for the money and put himself in a 3rd bad landing spot and out of the NFL in two years. He will sign a Mayfieldish type contract, which was 3 for 100, but in real world numbers 2 for 60. Darnold doesn't want to leave, and he will give a home value discount to stay. Mayfield had a prove it year so that's why the Bucs gave him the bigger contract. Yes, the QB position is devoid of talent, but that talent doesn't want to go there if they're smart. Darnold had already earned over 100 million dollars, so it's not the driving force of many that have never got big contracts. Minnesota will keep him I'd they want, and Sam will be back because he loves it here and both sides will be happy with the contract.

Re Sam Darnold, I am hoping an arrangement can be made. The salary of course would have to be in the ballpark but maybe wouldn't have to beat the absolute highest offer. I think the Vikings are a great fit for Sam and it feels like the team as a whole has adopted him and he is respected. Besides with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson and several talented others to throw to he can't miss. Would be kinda nice if somehow Adam Thielen rejoined the team (ok I'm still a fan) but money is a big deal but potentially losing Darnold I can't see as a great thing. JMO. This is not to disparage JJ McCarthy but he hasn't ridden the highs and lows that Darnold has..

The only way the Indianapolis Colts go after Darnold is if they totally scrap Anthony Richardson who only played 4 games last year before he had a season ending injury. So basically he is in his rookie year, so I don’t see them not trying to roll with him again next year. If they have any thought at all that AR might get it figured out, and they bring in SD they can kiss that goodbye! The only precedent for that happening is Trey Lance in San Francisco, and even they rolled with him for more than one year.

I am always worried about division rival teams. It doesn't matter how bad or good they are, they can always beat you. Seen it a hundred times. I remember one year back in the 80s the cowboys sucked I mean they couldn't beat anyone hardly they went like 3-13 two of those wins was against division rivals Washington and the Gmen both with way better records. Think about 1998 when the Vikings went 15-1 the only team that beat us was the Bucs who were a division rival at that time. Always worry about division games cuz they can go either way, there is no suck factor.

There is ZERO chance Darnold signs for less then the franchise tag number . The projected 2025 franchise tag for a quarterback is $41,304,000. If your the vikings GM there is no way you spend 2/3s of your cap space to sign a player you don't view as a long term piece. Vikings may have up to 78m in cap space.....signing darnold under the franchise tag means you eat the whole 41m with no way to spread the cap hit. That's insane. The point is that 41m dollars is Darnolds MINIMUM offer or starting point to remain in MN. Going elsewhere he could negotiate a slightly lower price but the whole contract would be guaranteed and likely have no-trade clauses....Not the direction you take with McCarthy sitting there. Best stat of the day....The last 6.....SIX STRAIGHT super bowls have featured at least 1 QB playing on a rookie deal. Follow the recipe Vikings. Use that cap space to get depth and difference makers for a 3-4 year window. Remember most of Mahomes first 2 SB wins were on his rookie contract. Play McCarthty.

Nah that doesn’t happen often. The players do not care about getting a better draft pick. They always have to play well to keep their market value up.
