I saw the spray foam and I was like "nah" then I saw the fiberglass and I was thinking okay, then I wondered how it was a diffuser without the fins, then you brought it all together with the plexiglass and I was convinced. This is fantastic! Super great job

(EDIT: Just a little advice, It was still good work 100%) I would use this as the cast and make a mold to make the final product. I'm a fan of cut precise pieces in one piece when possible for structural integrity.

Thank you! No cracks so far thankfully. The fiberglass prevents the bumper from flexing, you can even sit on top of the bumper 😄

Not that hard just time consuming, especially the sanding part. Also makes it easier if you have the right tools for the job.

It's not just the foam holding it, the diffuser is molded to the bumper with resin so it acts like a glue.

Is that fg putty all over the mould or just in some gaps? I am working on my own project. Wondering what would be best to give shape to the structure before priming it, the fb in some places have not sticked to the base. Plz advise.

The fiber putty is only applied in the corners. For the rest of the surface and for a final layer I used normal body filler.

Does the foam stick to the bumper's clear coat, or do you have to sand it before applying foam, for it to stick?

Depends on what foam you are using. The brand I used can stick to clear coat or other smooth surfaces. But if you plan on placing it permanently, I would recommend scuffing the surface first.

If I used spray foam on a bumper they would have had to repaint the whole car. He had excellent control of that foam dispenser and never got one drop on his flip flops props to him impressive

Very little actually, 10 mil plexi would be roughly 2.5lbs a square foot, cant be more than that on there, sprayfoam is about a half pound per cubic foot, doubt theres more than 2 cubes left after trimming, fiberglass, while still not as light as carbon, is pretty light, 3 pounds a square yard on average cured, likely 2.5 yards were used, add about 8 ounces of bondo left after bodywork... I'd say 11.5 pounds or less. 🤷♂🤣

Good job the only thing I'd have done different is cover the entire lower section of the bumper in masking tape prior to the foam stage pushing the tape flush into the shape of the bumper.this would have allowed you to seperate the splitter from the bumper once you had it glassed. The foam can then be removed and the splitter would be a seperate piece to the bumper rather than 1 whole piece

It can still be moulded in one piece as easy just without all that unnecessary material underneath is my point. Take it as constructive criticism, you done good mate

It hardens when it dries but not that much, it's still a bit soft if you press hard on it.

No it sticks like a glue and it's actually not that easy to remove. I also scuffed the surface with 120 grit sandpaper, so that helps too.

Just put 1 layer of fiberglass and wait for it to dry before putting another one to reduce heat and the chances of melting the foam.

Its been a while sicne you uploaded so you may not see this but, once you covered with filler , did you just cover imperfections after fiberglass or literally entire thing is covered by filler ?

I covered everything with a thin layer of body filler so it makes the surface smooth and remove imperfections, since fiberglass is harder to sand.

Might sound stupid I'm trying to do a similar task but keep get told that when I go to apply my resin the expanding foam melt. How do you stop the expanding from from melts or what resin should I avoid qnd what should I use thank you?

I never had issues with melting. Just do 1 or 2 layers first so it doesn't built too much heat.
