Viksø Helmets - Horned Helmets worn by Vikings?

This week I'm looking into the news about the Viksø helmets and delve into the old chestnut - Did Vikings wear horned helmets?

What a very useful video, people are used to reading 10 lines of a website article saying that Vikings didn't use horned helmets and they believe that it's 100% true. Congrats from Brazil 🇧🇷

Maybe a berserker general would wear it to lead from the front into a battle to scare the enemy and build morale before a charge. Or maybe for the ceremony.

Any reason there has not been found more helmets? Seems so weird. Fragile material? Where the helmets made in leather?

We only found two Viking age helmets and they're both made of iron. Some might have been out of leather, though that wouldn't really give the level of protection required. I believe alot of them corroded and some argue that the helmets were repurposed. Another argument is that Vikings didn't like to wear helmets. I don't like to wear one either, so I can relate.

I think that the horned helmet wasn't used in battle at all, and Vikings were warriors who went to raids. A Northman from the Viking age could not be a Viking. I also believe that these Northman's, in general, may have earned part of the culture of their ancestry from the bronze age, which means they use religious ceremonies, and also the use of the horned helmet for these rituals. So, the Vikings did not use them, mainly in battle, but their people may have used them.

Sven the Swede accidentally discovered a clever way to hang his beverage cup to his field helmet. He was uncomplicated, good looking and well liked. I thesis it became a small paste and copy trend :))

The idea of vikings wearing horned helmets into battle is about as valid as thinking that the viking wrapped themselves in a fur loin cloth and fought basically naked. It's utter fiction, but people still believe it for some reason.
