Listen son Mrs super Nintendo Chalmers is more interested in her gardener and that nurse has other skills she left off her resume that Mr super Nintendo Chalmers finds more than makes up for the C+ she got in Nosebleeds 101 when she got her University of Phoenix online participation sticker. You'll understand when you get older but wish you weren't...or at minimum never wake up again anymore one morning but are too defeated to fix things.

As I wait for my ENT appointment I have been trying to follow some of these tips given to me by my primary doctor last week after a nose bleed. I really appreciated the anatomy lesson, and the ice cold drink tips and nothing too hot. That makes a lot of sense once you understand the anatomy. Thank you.

As someone the suffers from nosebleeds from using too much Flonase over a 10 year period, this was extremely helpful. I was doing quite a few things incorrectly to stop the bleeding, which sometimes lasted for a hour or more. My ENT doctor cauterized with silver nitrate, which seemed to help. But now with the dry winter months it’s back. Bleed Cease inserted in the effected nostril also seems to help. Thanks a million Doctor Veer!

I've gotten many nose bleeds, I think because of congestion due to nasal polyps. I believe hypertonic and isotonic saline nasal sprays and vaseline coating are reducing these. Out of the 10 points, I only knew #5. And I know #5 because I live in a place that gets down to -40C in winter, so 20% humidity, so it is really obvious here. Yours is perhaps the most useful KZbin channel I've come across in the past 12 months. And you have an excellent presentation style.

Fantastic advice. Better than the ER doc's advice. I'm 2 weeks post op for sinus surgery. 3 severe nosebleeds have landed me in the ER 3 times. Been sucking on ice and it seems to be mitigating the oozing while I wait for the ENT surgeon to see me.

For over 65 years I have used a method learned from a dentist to stop minor oral and ordinary nosebleeds. Soak a teabag in cold water. Use one half cotton ball to soak up some cold tea, wring out excess tea and firmly pack into the bleeding nostril. It's important to be very tender when inserting the cotton. This remedy takes less than 20 minutes.

10/10 65 years plus of nosebleeds that always last more than 15 minutes so going to A&E isn’t an option more than a few times a week! So many end up with blood going down my throat so in the end I simply drip over the basin and wait patiently. Naseptin helps a little but I have bouts during hay fever season and after colds etc. Started at around 5 years old. Dad was the same.

agreed. I've seen quite a few people die after a nose bleed. normally it is because people wait too long before calling someone. although the nose bleed can be stopped many people have lost too much blood and end up with heart problems or strokes sometimes weeks later.

I have to say, training here in the US is woefully inadequate. As I type this I have had a "tampon" up my nose for three days and expect another two. I went to ER last Wednesday because I could not stop a nosebleed. The dude held my nose closed, then shot a bottle of Afrin up it, then randomly "cauterized" it where "most nosebleeds occur." Having bit worked he SHOVED an inflatable tampon up my nose. It kept bleeding and I told him that I though the source was up higher than he thought but he basically said that's all I can do. 5 hours later my OTHER nostril was bleeding and wouldn't stop so I went to a different ER because they said they had an ENT on staff. They shoved another tampon up my other nostril even though I said, I don't think that this blood is from this nostril but is just blood backing up from the other side. At least this ER nurse said you need to be on Keflex. Two days later I saw an ENT doctor who was kind of shocked at all they did. She removed the packing and the original side was still bleeding. She said you normally need to keep these tampons up there for 5 days and need Keflex around the clock. I go back in three days to get the sock out of my nose. Wish me luck.

Hi I found your video very informative. My elderly mother who I hv noticed over 3 months, blood has been in her nasal cavity, mom suffers with high blood pressure and hayfever. Yesterday I went to see ENT specialist, he didn't explain anything about how the nasal vessels work within the nasal passage etc, basically he, didn't explain anything like you did within your video. He just explain the type of assessments, like; x-ray, put a camera within the nasal. He just asked when was the last time mom's nose had bleed, then he went onto said there's 10% reasons for bleeds and majority of the time there's no explanation for why the nose hv blood high up in the top of the nose. I'd could it be a connection to mom's blood pressure, he said may. With the Nasal cream you'd mentioned "Naseptin nasal cream" he said do not use cotton bud or your finger, push the actual high up into mom nasal in the direction of her eye socket, then squeeze the cream straight into her nasal passage, he then said don't clean out mom's nose, as it will take off any scabs in the nose, just use a syringe with saline water, or warm saltire water clean out inside mom nasal. I just had the feeling he was giving me bad advice. I need to know why mom has suddenly been having onset bleeding inside her nostrils?.. I need medical advice?.

Really pleased I found your vidio, I was a ""walrus", using the twisted tissue inserted into the offending nostril, but when it stopped ,and the tissue pulled out the clot, sometimes came with i and it started again, I pressume nipping the nose stops so much blood oozing out and forming the clot, perhaps just forming a small clot /scab over the burst vein. A&E couldnt give me a referal to ENT, as it had stopped by the time I got seen, hope my GP will refer me this time as he has been reluctant to do so, but my nose bleeds are more frequent now. .

Thanks for this video and for all the information you provide. I was recently introduced to your channel through watching Durham Hearing Specialist. I don't live in London, I'm actually in the USA. I used to get nosebleeds when I was a child if I played too hard and got hot. Once I grew up, they stopped and haven't had any issues as an adult. Now that I am over 60, they seem to have begun to occur again. I'll go for weeks or months and not have a nosebleed, then suddenly I will have one. When they start, I will have nosebleeds every few days for several weeks then they will (seemingly) mysteriously stop again.

I learned so much from your video! I get nose bleeds often. I did know not to lean back but I also wad up a small amount of tissue and put it inside my mouth between my upper lip and teeth. I look like I have a big upper lip. But from your video…it would be hitting where that blood vessel is and applying pressure. It always works for me and I’m not sure where I heard to do this…most likely my Mom. I have the scab - which does get itchy and ends up coming off when I blow my nose. It doesn’t bleed right away but will start again if I bend over (with my head below my heart - didn’t know this) or I’ve bumped my face while sleeping and wake from the sensation of my nose running. I wonder if using a Netti Pot or Navage - with a salt solution would help heal it? I appreciate your video and info. Thank you.

Ice on the back of my neck does always help but I honestly think that is a calming and cooling when you're panicking more than a direct blood vessel approach. Mine was so scary today though, I think it's time to try cautery.

I knew 1-5. Our young daughter gets them severely year round. Our Ent( in USA) says she just needs to keep it moist year round

Please do one on packing methods used in the ER. I had a very severe nose bleed that I ended up in the ER with a Rapid Rhino inserted. Unbelievably painful! I'm so afraid this will happen again, so I have an appointment with an ENT to just check things out.

The method use for stopping nosebleeds is to soak a half cotton ball in ordinary tea, wring out excess and pack it snuggly into the bleeding nostril. This works in about 20 minutes without pinching. Very easy, quick and inexpensive. Sixty-five years of successful use validates this method. In fact, I have used this method during a hospital stay with approval of the medical staff.

Are frequent (every month or so) bleeds that stop quickly something to be concerned with? Did not know about ice in mouth.

Thank you so much, Vik Veer! I really appreciate all the knowledge you share through your videos. I bleed frequently from the nose, although not very profusely each time. I think that's because I live in a climate with very hot and dry afternoons, especially in summer. You gave us precious tips. 🙂 Usually, I tried to solve the problem by lifting my head up and resorting to the walrus sign! Now I see the mistakes I used to make while trying to stop the bleeding, which I will correct from now on.
