EDIT: We got a chance to speak with both Tyree Bowie and Sarah Mullinix regarding the case. Below are some of the key points that Both Tyree and Sarah would like clarified for you all, so that we can move forward in their shared fight for Justice For Dante: With regard to the injury that Tyree witnessed, it was his chin that he saw Dante bump, not his head. According to Tyree, it was Leah that reported that she saw Dante hit his head twice. In fact, Leah also claimed that Dante banged his head off of things all of the time - but only while he was with her. Leah called her son a “little b*tch.” when Tyree expressed concern To add some further detail regarding the Teddy Graham cookies: When Dante began to choke on the cookies, chewed up food matter came out of his nose and onto Tyree’s jeans. This is when Tyree was on his way to the hospital (as it would have been quicker to get Dante there himself rather than wait for an ambulance), trying to clear the little boy’s airway, administer chest compressions, all while he was driving and FaceTime Leah so she knew what was going on. Cookie residue also made it to both his steering wheel and car interior. When Tyree tried to point out the cookie residue on his jeans to Lead Investigator Kyle Hower in a videotaped interview, Investigator Hower became aggressive and told him that he was lying. He also claimed that no cookies or cookie residue was found in the car - which we later learned was totally untrue. The video footage of Hower becoming aggressive was shown at Tyree’s trial. In the episode, we shared a picture of a filthy pair of clothing. Those clothes came from another Latin King that Leah had been spending time around prior to connecting with Tyree. Tyree had not actually seen a picture of those clothes until his trial. Some publications claim the clothing came from Tyree’s mother, Cheryl, but this is not correct. Cheryl provided Dante with ice cream, but not clothing. Tyree clarified that he and Leah were NEVER in a relationship. In close, Tyree wanted to shout out everyone that helped spread the word of his innocence, and those who continue to fight for Justice for Dante. This includes Sarah and his former roommate, Lacey Peiffer. Not only did Lacey preserve the cookie box container as evidence, but she spent hours taking screenshots of the conversations between Tyree and Leah - the conversations that proved that Tyree was caring for Dante, and Leah wasn’t. He also wanted to thank Erika, the mutual friend who was present when Investigator Hower examined his home, and of course, his mother, Cheryl Preston. Cheryl was pivotal in securing Farley Holt as Tyree’s attorney - who was the only lawyer that actually believed in him. Tyree is working on getting some of his court transcripts online for us to share here. We will update this pinned comment when those become available.

I lived in York, also worked at York Hospital at the time of this case. Everyone locally knows the mother did this. It is absolutely sickening and CYS and York city police dropped the ball on every level. Tyree served more time than Dante's mom ever did, she is currently only on probation now. Locally we will continue to speak out for Justice for Dante.

It sure sounds like she set him up. The way she treated her son before she even met Tyree showed a pattern of escalation both in violence and neglect. What kind of mother has to be told to go to the doctor because of open sores? Or to be made to fill the prescription because he's suffering, or be forced to apply the cream? What parent leaves their toddler in filthy diapers? If she didn't want to raise her child, her sister would have taken him in a heartbeat, and she tried to get custody of him. Sarah has cried more tears for Dante than his own mother is capable of. The police were going after the wrong people. Sadly, there will never be enough justice for Dante or Tyree.

First of all, I was so relieved when you said tyree was found Not Guilty. I think it would being so depressing if he had been found guilty. I just hate when the police get tunnel vision and refuse to do any rethinking or re-examining. Thank you to Tyree's lawyer and the jury for this. And the incredible work of Sarah in searching for justice for her nephew. She has done so much for that little boy. sadly, mom got away with her brutal treatment and murder of her son. Justice I doubt will be served.
@NikkiC777

It is depressing when an innocent person is wrongly convicted of a crime. In this case, (and this is just my opinion, and he was found innocent.) I am still personally a bit suspicious though still, about what his level of involvement was. I am skeptical because Tyree's daughter also was removed from his and his exes care, because she was covered in bruises and had a injured retina that is pretty severe child abuse, and both he and his ex girlfriend plead guilty in that case. So he does have a pretty extensive history of child abuse. (To the point where children had to be removed by the state,) and abuse of his girlfriends too. That makes me think both him and Dante's "mother"🙄 could have participated in the abuse in the Dante's case too, and they just did not have enough evidence to overcome the reasonable doubt created by the allegations against the "mom", and the testimony about her applying makeup to the child. That made her look really guilty and suspicious, and made him look more innocent because at least he admitted the makeup was there. In that case he came across as being more trustworthy in comparison to the mother. It's possible that's the reason he got off with no conviction. She was wrong and neglectful to leave Dante alone with him. She barely knew the guy and she left her child with him. WTF. Also (and I am not saying he is doing this only that it could have been a possibility) sometimes predators target vulnerable, impoverished, or naive, single, mothers. She should have been more aware and careful about stuff like that and not been leaving her child with seemingly friendly men she barely knew. I think the reason possibly he did not get in trouble could be that the mom was so awful, that she actually made even Tyree look good, even though in reality he was abusive too. It's hard to say exactly what happened imo.

@@NikkiC777 yeah I am 100% with you on that. Abuse cases are never black and white like "he was a perfect angel to the child and she was a devil". There are always enablers, co-abusers, groomers/gaslighters, and so many different types of abuse that cases like this are never as they seem. But something I have learned to be true 99% of the time is that abusers never recover from their sick mindsets. The fact that Tyrees family is saying that he "always owned up to his mistakes" and that he "changed" since beating the shit out of his own girlfriends and children means fucking NOTHING to anyone with a brain. I am sure that he was and still is a batterer. Unless he went through some sort of abuser counseling program or had a near-death experience I do not believe that a man with such extensive history of deliberately and repeatedly torturing women and children would turn over a new leaf out of nowhere. The only reason I suspect that he may not have hurt Dante is that he only knew the boy for a few weeks. Abusers usually ramp up abuse over time (first emotional, then verbal, then psychological, then physical) and they seldom come out of the gate with beatings. It isnt likely that he would suddenly beat the shit out of a boy he just met even with his dark past, but we really never know what hand he had in it. What I want to know is why didnt he report Leah to the cops if he is such an angel? and how could he stomach having sex with someone who treated her child so despicably? In this situation he was an enabler at best.

@@massivelyou raise some very good points that definitely made me think and reconsider the possibilities of what the actual truth is. it's pretty easy to get into the black n white mindset of "Leah bad (which I still think is true obviously), Tyree good" in this case but that leaves out so much important context. I don't really think Tyree joined Leah in physically abusing Dante, but you're right that ultimately he was an enabler to Dante's abuse. your comments were just very thought provoking and reminded me to kind of zoom out and remember all the facts in this case, and not just focus on how acquitting Tyree was the right decision imo.

How old is your son? Mine is 19, autistic, and developmentally delayed. I know what you mean about getting so frustrated! Raising kids is hard enough, but you add a disability on top of it, and it makes things a billion times harder. You're right, though, because no matter how frustrated I get, I would never ever harm a hair on his head. It's so sad to think of special needs kids who have garbage parents. My husband and I chose to keep him home and not in a group home because we love him too much. Yet, my son's case manager says there are so many parents who can't wait until their child turns 18 to send them away. It absolutely sickens me! Maybe one day, when he's a lot older, he may want to venture out on his own, but we'd never push him out.... even though there are extremely hard times with him, it would destroy us. God bless you and your sweet angel! Sometimes, I wonder, "Why us," but I suppose God doesn't give us anything we can't handle... even though he was developing normally during his first 2 years of life and exceeding his childhood milestones.... that's a whole different story.

I always find it laughable when people claim to catch stds from such random ways. How many times have we all used a public bathroom in our lifetime? How many times have we swam in a public or even private pool with others? As a matter of fact, I have interpreted for a woman who has hiv and part of her treatment was aquatic therapy. I was in the pool with her twice a month for a year...I never contracted it.

It sounds like mom did this and will walk. This is why competence is so important. The herpes thing is just infuriating for two reasons. I think we all agree Leah is at fault, over and over and over again she refused to get proper attention to her son's well-being and even going out of her way to refuse care for him. Even if she wasnt the one who technically killed him she should still be charged for neglect at the VERY least. But i believe she did killed him and she allowed her son to be sexually abused too and did nothing to protect him from a predator. But rest in peace Dante you deserved so much better ❤

These horrible stories blow my mind when nothing is done. When my youngest started bruising a lot at 8 months in under 3 days I took her to the ER not thinking anything of it so after waiting forever we were put in a room and 6 doctors, several nurses and a couple plainclothes people came in with a few glaring at me!? It still didn't dawn on me at first but then after they looked at her they all left but one doctor, then he said "sorry that's precautionary" then it dawned on me they thought I'd abused my baby!? She ended up having a very rare blood disorder where she also had 'petechiae' along with bruising meaning it wasn't abuse, (she's fine) but the response was immediate and serious, which I thought was fantastic so I don't understand when I hear other hospitals doing nothing!? Poor baby!

My first intuition goes to the "Mother".. They always say in cases like this that CA, especially the kind that leads to fatal injuries, Does Not happen over night. We all saw the evidence that Leah was already neglecting and abusing her son, even before these men entered in her life. I would put my money on the fact that she did something to him that day, then got scared that if he dies, she does not wanna be there and left the baby boy with the guy. I for sure, was reliefed when finding out he was found not guilty. Those charges just did not seem right. Lets hope that she will be held accountable for ALL she put this innocent baby to go through. And GUYS, if someone tries to drop their baby into youre care, and especially if you suspect abuse, refuse and contact someone immediately. This may sound harsh, but cases like this should NOT happen again.

It’s crazy how far these people will go to protect one another. Looking at how outrageous the police acted exposed their corruption; it’s terrifying to think of how many innocent people they’ve not just prosecuted but persecuted. Abuse of power never surprises me; from police to social workers to judges - they’re all known to position themselves to be in a massive circle jerk of back-scratching. It’s amazing how they sleep at night (likely with the aide of narcotics from the evidence room). The way I see it, if you throw justice to the wayside and let child predators roam free - you, in turn, *are a child predator,* too. A corrupt, bigoted, egotistical, and power abusing child predator. Thankfully the jury saw through the bullshit of the police and prosecution. I hope Tyree is able to reach his goals and continue to turn his life around. Sarah is a superhero if you ask me.

I became bipolar after lifesaving cerebrospinal surgery and I had the thought of ‘why should I take medication?’ and then I asked myself what the hell I was thinking. Me being aro-asexual is secondary to my desire never to repeat my parents’ mistakes by having a child I am unprepared for emotionally and mentally. Why I seem to be singular in these decisions and actions is entirely beyond me.

It really seems that DCFS only “helps” those that DON’T need help as in the “Take Care Of Maya case” which is so very sad. What happened to that family is so vile, cutting off the rights to the family to the point the mother unalive herself. Maya was only 9 when she got a rare painful disease and between a Judge, DCFS and the hospital they took away this family’s rights to see her. I cried watching the documentary, Maya’s testimony and the verdict. I hate what this family went through but happy for them because they were awarded 241 million dollars. I don’t like lawsuits but this one was warranted. I was involved with DCFS where my neighbor was abusing her three year old daughter. They questioned me in front of the mother which makes it difficult to speak the truth. I already had a protective order against her as she stated to me she was going to burn my house down with me and my family in it. She said the same thing to her brother that she would burn their house down with him, his wife and two kids in it. She proceeded to send her boyfriend to her brothers house and slit all four of his tires on his work truck. They always called her to let her know when they were coming. Of course she could get everything in place before they got there. She eventually lost custody of her daughter to her mom and couldn’t see her.

As a fan of true crime & longtime subscriber of this channel, this case was different than most I’ve come across. For one, I am content that an innocent man was not convicted, but feel somewhat angry that the mother was left free to continue her life. This channel has a unique way of story telling that makes me visualize every detail, as if what happened - happened to a close friend or relative of mine. The way they describe and portray these cases & scenarios themselves, you can tell they put in real effort to research and dig deep until no stone is left unturned. Then, they put so much passion in the story telling, whenever there is an upsetting moment it gets ME upset. I truly hope the channel continues to grow and get the exposure it truly deserves. Thanks for another great vid guys 💙

When I was 16, I suffered a cardiac arrest. I was already at the hospital, and I had TRAINED medical staff preform cpr on me for about 30 minutes in absolute ideal conditions. Also, at 16 I was pretty much fully grown and yet I ended up with cracked and bruised ribs. The pain from them was so severe at one point I was forced to go to the er by a therapist because he was convinced I had a pulmonary embolism. Two year later, I still have some discomfort around my left chest. It is absolutely not surprising to me that a 2 year old BABY having cpr done by someone untrained and actively DRIVING would suffer such internal injuries. When I was being trained in cpr they said “which would you rather, break some ribs and save their life, or save the ribs and let them die”. Of course it’s not always that simple and you can’t save everyone with cpr, but if you don’t press hard enough it’s not going to get the blood out of the heart and up to the brain.

My daughter didn’t talk until 3.5. All kids are different, but everyone tries to stick them in a box. Boys talk late, Einstein didn’t talk till 4. People tried to say autistic, as it’s extremely over-diagnosed theses days, when kids are just being kids. Now my daughter, talks and uses words way beyond her age, at 6. I’m glad I fought against it.
