James Broughton I am Ngati kahungunu and affiliated with Tainui and a teacher and composer of Haka. I agree he did perform Ka Mate with Mana although not protocols. I just wish our cousins from Hawaii would research their own Ha’a traditions and listen to their elders before they all pass. It is not good for them or Polynesia in general if they choose to just copy Maori Haka they found on KZbin and claim it as their traditions.

Very poor pronunciation and breathing techniques vital for completing full words throughout the verses and keeping the power in the voice strong and solid. It was rushed! It's not a race so slow it down, pronunciation is key in any language to be heard and understood properly. The actions or choreography here is lacking sharpness, fluidity and understanding, because each action has deep meaning behind it so we as Māori instinctively know when something isn't quite right. Theres no shortage of "ihi" meaning- power, essential force or excitement! I think it's installed in every one, from all cultures but!, singing another countrys national anthem wrong on television will upset alot of people especially when you're not from there and haven't earned the privilege to do so.
