As for that crawl space discussion at 12:20, I think the comment was right. During the 19th century and spiritualism there was a large debate about the proof of ghosts and an afterlife. The society for Psychical Research was an organization dedicated to the study of ghosts, and actually it is a lot like this show. A famous medium named Eva G was investigated because she would play tricks on her guests to believe ghosts were real. Harry Houdini and Arthur Conan Doyle argued about her legitimacy. Doyle was a huge spiritualist, while Houdini was not, which makes sense because of his profession as an illusionist. It’s all fascinating. I did a whole research project on this topic in my seminar, so I have tons of resources if you guys want them.
