Fantastic! Thank you for sharing....and for taking the risk. I heard dashcams were illegal in Austria.

Dashcams are a grey area in the law. The Austrian Data Protection Act says that no one can film anything at all in a public space (ie it does not actually state dashcams are illegal as far as I can tell). Under the terms of the DPA, any filming at all with any recording device is illegal if it is filming/recording in a public space. That means dashcams, mobile phones, film cameras, video cameras, handlebar/helmet cams (GoPro), webcams that are pointed at the street, etc., etc. You see all of these all the time... people on motorcycles with GoPros mounted on top of their helmet, handlbar cams, and dashcams (I've seen loads of cars with obvious dashcams). As I understand it (I could be wrong)... according to the way the law is written, you need to ask permission of everyone within camera-shot if you want to film something with any recording device. If you didn't, someone could conceivably make a complaint to the police that you were filming them with your mobile phone while walking down the street, and you could conceivably be fined up to 10,000 Euros. The grey area comes down to why you were filming... for your own pleasure/entertainment... or explicitly for monitoring someone's activities. If you can prove it is purely for entertainment... say making these KZbin videos... and not for monitoring other people's activities, then you're more than likely OK. I don't keep the cam in my car 24x7. It's only set up for specific road trips.

Perfect time of year to travel through.

smaug4242 Weather was perfect in Bled two weeks ago (Except for an early a.m. shower). I noticed a highway (autobahn/autostrada) on our right coming in from Villach. Is that the A2?
@smaug424210 жыл бұрын
Jeff Swoyer Sounds right. The A10 links Salzburg to the Karawanken Tunnel (to Slovenia), and crosses the A2 at Villach. The A2 runs from the Italian border (at Tarvisio) all the way to Vienna.

It' a beautiful part of Europe. Sadly, due to work I had to relocate away. I'd go back if I could.

The car is a 2010 Mini One D. Great car.... loads of fun to drive. The whole region from Villach through Ljubjana and down to Pulan is really stunningly beautiful. You will enjoy it!

@@smaug4242 The front end looks like ferrari 250 gt lusso. I like it!

@@randomdude9269 Ha, I can see the similarity, esp with the headlight bumps. I wish it was a 250GT... and that I could afford to drive a $3 million car. :-)
