A note on doubling the recipe: I used about 6 1/2 cups of flour for the dough and probably about 1 1/4 cups of shortening for the streusel and they turned out as good as the single batch. This is about amazing recipe and video. Thank you so much!

@@VillaCocina I really love watching your channel. However, I wasn't ambitious enough to try and bake conchas. However, I did visit my favorite panaderia in East Los Angeles, called El Gallo. It truly is the best panaderia in Southern California I've ever had. Their cuernos and ojos de buey are also absolutely divine! 😋 One of these days I'll get around to trying to bake a concha.

I made these! You are right, I smiled when I handled the dough. It was the best texture ever. My first time making them and they were perfect. My Conchas were light and tender, with a delicate hint of sugar and , I used, Madagascar Vanilla. I grew up with the 'Pan Man' bringing fresh bakery items to the neighborhood. The Conchas and Pink Cookies were always my favorite.

Making today, really excited, brings back memories…BUT, I did have trouble making the streusel. Added all ingredients in mixer but was way too sticky and not thick like yours. Tips? I added more flour and it improved but I think I added too much, kept breaking apart when trying to make into flat piece for topping on dough

I love the flavor of this recipe I actually Blended some whole cinnamon sticks and added it to the mixture before forming dough. Tasted amazing but I still couldn’t get them to rise like yours! :( they were a bit flatter
@AubreyLizardly2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for giving you a notification for this a month later but this is also good for anyone else reading your comment: I’m not sure if you added the cinnamon directly to the bread dough but cinnamon actually inhibits yeast, which is why yeasted bread recipes like cinnamon rolls have you add the cinnamon paste to the surface of the dough and roll it up instead of mixing it into the dough. Our ancestors used spices to preserve food, so it’s cool that some actually do limit yeast and bacteria!
@Nunya002 жыл бұрын
thanks for the video! I got a question, when you added the additional cups of flour when kneading the dough, is that additional flour already added on to your total amount of flour listed here in the description?
