We don’t have enough evidence to have Afton as broken, but in the games he’s broken and pure evil. Since Scott cawthon was mostly copying off the game lore just adding a few tweaks, we can gusss he’s kind of like the games. Broken and pure evil. But more pure evil as there’s a theory (which I happen to believe in) that Afton got the animatronics to kill for more remnant (so he could rebuild his son or Vanessa if you’ve watched film theories video). So I think that pure evil is correct, but also broken because the reason why he killed in the games is because his son died, so we can guess it might be same in the movie.
