The Villaume Corliss engine was the primary source of electrical power for the Villaume Box and Lumber Company from 1904 until 1958. The engine is a single cylinder dual acting steam engine with a Corliss valve gear. The engine is rated at 380 HP and originally ran at 90 RPM. The engine was manufactured by Twin City Iron Works which later became part of Minneapolis Moline. The alternator was manufactured by Allis Chalmers and is three phase. It is rated for 850 amps at 240 volts with a total load rating of 205 KW.
The Villaume Box and Lumber Company moved in 1970 which is when our organization found and transported it to our show grounds. The engine has been in operation at WMSTR in Rollag MN since 1971.
