I don't think he is to blame for the awkwardness. It wasn't Ville who provoked it. He just happened to be interviewed by stupid people who made him uncomfortable with some questions or sexist commentaries, specially in the last interview. HIM lyrics tend to be sexual and sensual sometimes, but not explicit or obscene, like it was the case with a few interviewers

My guess is it's a nervous habit when she's attracted to someone of the opposite sex. When I was shy and younger, I had long blonde hair down to my butt. I had this weird nervous habit when talking to guys I thought cute of tucking my hair behind my ear repeatedly. I did it so frequently especially if nervous about conversing that my hair had a wave in it from that in that one spot but was otherwise dead straight. I didn't know how to act when guys expressed interest in me around age 14 - 15 before I totally dove into my look that I still have today around 15-16. Cuz i looked way younger than my peers and didn't hit puberty until I was nearly 16, I had been boy crazy for a long time and I just looked like a kid in comparison to other girls with boobs, and more womanly features already. So when guys started actually noticing me I was so unsure how to act. Though that changed a lot. To every guy I dated telling me they were intimidated by me and thought I was "out of their league ". Lol. I had to make the first move usually, because guys became terrified of asking me out but apparently had crushed for years. (I was a bit of a trendsetter/influencer where I live) i've had this extreme goth/ punk/ freak whatever look since 1996. Opening the local Hot Topic back in the late 90s and being interviewed by the newspaper to educate the public on" goth" / counter culture had a big impact on people here too. It's been crazy a.f. it's also interesting how people use to just hurl cruelty and insults at me from the safety of their cars and nowadays it's complimentary mostly, it's changed a lot. And i've fought hard to help make that change.

@Deez Nuts I agree but I kind of see it like at that point he had tons of girls throwing themselves at him every day and he was probably doing 10 interviews a day. Anyone would be frustrated and men tend to be angrier and not always know how to cope so he sort of lashed out at her. It was mean but next time he was interviewed by her he treated her super respectfully and sweetly again. From what I remember they had 2 interviews before this and in the first Ville seemed to have a crush on her, but obviously that was before Razorblade Romance released or was getting ready to.
