Looking at the early days of Anzac work in France, walking from Albert to Pozieres visiting the memorials and sites now famous in Australian history books.

My son is going to France on a school trip in April 2024. They are going to the Anzac dawn service in Villers-Bretonneux on the 25th April... What an experience for him. It'll be 106 years since our Aussie diggers fought and won the battle at Villers-Bretonneux.

My grandmother’s first cousin was killed on the first day the Australian Army at Poziers. He has no known grave, his name is recorded at Villers Brettonneux.

What a shame you missed, Sgt Claude Castleton VC in the Pozieres British Cemetery, plus the other three; the fortified house labelled " Gibralter" it is next to the Australian memorial as you enter the Pozieres, the Statue of the Australian soldier in the town square in Albert, the memorial plaque in the Amiens Cathedral, Get the book "Walking wit hthe Anzacs" if you go , It will take you a good day to walk the immediate battle field Lest We Forget,

Very gracious of the French to let us build all those monuments. I wonder how those who live in the region feel about it. Maybe they would rather forget.

Well, their country has been badly attacked twice, and now the illegals have waltzed in uncontested. Maybe they don’t give a shit🤷🏼♀️

My wife and I walked this battlefield in 2017, not just the main road, but way out towards Delville Wood, Sunken Rd Trench , Contalmaison, Dead Man's Rd . and then the NW side - Brind's Rd towards Mouquet Farm . It took us all day . We stopped in the village of Pozieres and were taken in by an elderly French couple who were more tha nhappy to tell us about the Australians. The Gentleman's fathe rhad helped bury those that lay around. They were fantastic in their hospitality. I think hat answers your question
