The Banks of Green Willow composer George Butterworth remembered

On 5th August 1916, composer George Butterworth was killed on the Somme by a sniper's bullet - a tragic loss for British music.
George is commemorated on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Thiepval Memorial, along with more than 72,000 other men with no known grave.

Another haunting sad melody; from the great composer George Butterworth. “The banks of the green willow”. This is another piece of sad music where i have to get the tissues ready.😢🥲😒😞 its the same with another great composer Edward Elgar. His very haunting composition “Nimrod” from his Enigma variations. i cry all the time. It’s good for you in a way; considering that i grieve all the time. Monday afternoon at 17:13H. 1st February 2021 U.K. 🇬🇧 Southampton.
