M50 kinda sucks as a camera. And the camera itself feels cheap and plastic. The kit lens that comes in the box is also pure garbage. But this Viltrox lens is kinda cool and puts the class to a cheap camera.

The in-body stabilization in the M50 is fine when used properly. It does not, as you know well, turn your M50 into a GoPro. The M50 is NOT an action cam! It is terrific, however, for hand-held video wherever you might otherwise be missing a tripod. And when I need stabilization on the move in a pinch, Mercalli does a far better job with the in-camera stabilization that without. But stick to a gimbal or a camera with GoPro-like stabilization for anything with a lot of movement.

I think they need to release a black lens for the canon, the silver looks odd. If you go to AliExpress, the 23mm sells for £216.50 - £227.00 free delivery, and the 33mm from £197.00 that’s if you trust purchasing from AliExpress which. I can’t see an issue myself.

Both great options, but also have a look at the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 lens. It's one of the sharpest and most versatile lenses we've used on an M50.

The picture quality looks bad at 1.4, what's the point of having f1.4 if the sharpness and vignetting/color fringing is bad? But as you say for the price I guess it is acceptable but this seems more like a cheap, general purpose lens rather than a professional one.

I think it's fair considering the price. We tend to use it more at f1.8 or 2.8 if we want that nice blur, and only crank it up wide open if it's really low light. At the very least it's nice to have the option!

The 23mm lens is much wider, the 56mm will give you a more 'zoomed in' and tighter view :)

I have the 22mm f2.. I think this len does better with f 1.4 lowlight.. however, i still have good video with f2 on the pancake len.. wonder why not so many people purchase this len. on amazon has fewer reviews.

Unfortunately no, it's for EF-M mount only. The 5k mk iii would only work with EF lenses.

Honestly, it's like a mirrorless 80D, so if you can pick one up used for a good price, it's still great. We never use the 4k mode anyway on this camea.

canon 22mm f/2 is better value, its $150 used and so is this viltrox 23mm used same price. canon is sharper at f/2 and much smaller.
