Excellent and practical review- many thanks. Now, so many years after the release of the a 6000 ( I still have my original, but very happy with the purchase of a6400- almost solely due to the magic IAF), this focal length is now quite crowded. Not the case for some after the release of 6000, 6300, 6500 etc.Would give serious consideration to this lens if was presently in the market. As it turned out, purchased a mint 2nd hand Sony 35 1.8 as the lens was being sold very cheaply. Good lens and suits my shooting style, as would this Viltrox lens as grew up in past times when for many, the standard and only lens, were 50 mm equivalents- a mega versatile focal range. This seems an excellent lens, with fast AF, the lack of stabilisation has never been a major problem, if in doubt, simply increase the shutter speed.

Oh boy! I had my eye on the sigma line-up (at least one fast prime) and now you're giving me even more objects of desire! haha thanks for the great vid! as usual.

I will do a comparison, but Without pixel peeping, you can’t go wrong with either one. I don’t dive too far into the weeds with chromatic aberration ect. I’ve had a great time with the Viltrox 33 and I’m just impressed by the images I’ve gotten so far. It’s very sharp, which I should have touched on more in the vid. Thanks for watching!

@@kyletaggart I'll be looking forward to it, because I will only buy 1 prime for the time being, and your reviews have become a big part of my decision process.

Hey man! I am already using a full frame Viltrox lense (85mm 1.8) on my Sony a6000 and I am actually very happy with the results...that said, I also decided to purchase the Viltrox 33mm 1.4 and is coming next week from China as I get from Aliexpress....(198 euros and free delivery) gonna be posting pics as soon as I get in my instagram feed. That said I highly recommend the Viltrox line specially for the a6000 and specially if u are planning to upgrade to full frame eventually...Let me know if you would like to see edited shots of the 33mm 1.4 ...as I don't want to scam writing down my instagram profile unless you ask me for it. Have a good day!

Thank you for the review! It never disapoints. Will this lens work as a 50mm on a APS C such as my Sony a6400?
@kyletaggart3 жыл бұрын
Correct. Field of view equivalent to a full frame would be 50mm.

Great video kyle! And thanks for bringing us this review:) May I ask you which firmware you are using on this viltrox? (The latest one should be 1.1.6) Apparently, new firmwares are improving Af!
@kyletaggart3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tried the latest - and received this a couple months back. Honestly, if it improves AF, then it’s value just goes up! Maybe I’m more tolerant than some, but I’m not having any severe AF issues.
@federicozuffranieri83933 жыл бұрын
I also don't need a super fast lightning AF, but some people might take advantage of it:) Apart from that, I was deciding between the Viltrox 23mm and the Sigma 30mm...then you came out with this review and made a lot of mess in my head, thanks! :D

Hello..Compare to Sigma 16mm F1.4, is the background compression of Viltrox lens much better than Sigma?

In terms of 33mm Viltrox vs Sigma 16mm f1.4, the bokeh is better on the Viltrox.

Viltrox made it 33mm due to compensate Canon smaller sensor 1.6 crop, Will be waiting for the comparison, my guess Sigma>Viltrox>Sony The viltrox is sharp but the lens coating isn’t that good, the lens will prone to flaring. Keep up the good work buddy, cheers!

Sigma made their lenses for canon too. So their 30mm is sold for EF-M.
@fis37513 жыл бұрын
@@kyletaggart I think the Sigma just want to be 30mm, but Viltrox 33 is close to Canon Efm 32mm lens🙂...Canon 32mm equivalent to Sony/Fuji 35mm.. 1.6 crop apsc vs 1.5 crop apsc.

Sony 35 f1.8, Sigma 30 f1.4 and Viltrox 33 f1.4, which one I should pick for my Sony A6400?
@kyletaggart Жыл бұрын
First, I recommend any of them. They’re all good. If you want one of these for video potentially, Sony 35mm is the only one with stabilization. In terms of size, Sony is the smallest and lightest I believe. If price is an issue, all are great so I’d say grab the cheapest option. In terms of overall - focus speed, sharpness, and money isn’t an issue, and focal length doesn’t matter - I’d say Sony 35mm f1.8.
@lingli2807 Жыл бұрын
@@kyletaggart Thank you so much for your quick reply! Just watched your other video. I think I will go for Sony, but get a used one, so the price will be a bit cheaper.

Hi, need your recommendation. Sigma 16mm or Viltrox 23mm for video vlog like this? Thanks a lot.
@kyletaggart3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm tough one. Sigma 16mm is wider, so better for forward facing (talking to camera) style. However the 23mm is a great focal length for a lot of other things. The sigma 16 is probably a better option if you want to vlog / hold camera out and talk to camera. 👍🏻

Is Viltrox 23mm good for vlogging on my Sony A6000?
@kyletaggart2 жыл бұрын
It’s a little “tight”, like too zoomed in. I’d recommend the sigma 18-50mm f1.8 or Sony kit lens. If you want higher quality and don’t mind the lens being a little bigger, the sigma 16mm f1.4, Viltrox 13mm f1.4.
