Feels good to release a video again! What's your thoughts on this lens? I decided not to watch many reviews until I released mine 🙆🏻♂️

Awesome review! Everyone that talks about street shooting always focuses on ultra wide, 15 to 23mm lenses, or the 27mm pancake. I've been shooting with those lately and I feel like the only thing that I capture out in a wide open city is just... architecture and streets. My shots lack moments, lack feel, lack subjects, lack emotion. It ends up being too wide, too much, and I'd have to get super close to my subject. I love the 27mm for portability, but I have been looking for street photography talk of lenses above 35mm and no one even mentions it or talks about, everyone just says for street stick with wide 15 to 23mm... Like going above 23mm is taboo, haha. So glad someone talks about walking around with a 56mm and has great photos to show for it.

It's good practice to stick to two sizes of filters, I do so for 62 mm and 77 and have my lenses equipped with step-up rings as needed (and XUME connectors for quick switching). My Viltrox and FujiFilm primes all take 62 mm filters now, my larger Viltrox prime (85/1.8 II XF) is 72 mm as is my 16-80 mm Fuji zoom and they take 77 mm filters. Step-up rings with the approriate XUME connector are on all my lenses to accomodate for either the 62mm or 77mm filters. Also some 67 mm lenses are so equipped that can take the 77 mm filters. I really like it this way.

I appreciate the comment and it sounds like you have a great system that works for yourself, I just really like the have the filters flush to the lens but that’s my personal preference 🤷🏻♂️

I here mostly good things about the Viltrox lenses, come to think about it I’ve not heard anything bad about them which for me being on a really tight budget is great. My budget really is tight, so tight that I’ve just won some filters that I could never afford to buy but though I’d love to keep them I’m trying to sell as I could do much more with the money…like get some screw on filters instead plus cash left over. P.S. really love the photos, I want to do more night shooting myself and feel the 35mm f2 jis a little wide and slightly not fast enough, hence why I’m looking at the Viltrox 56mm 1.4

This is the first video i see on your channel and i must say, i’m very impressed with your shots. I shoot on Canon and have been considering the 56mm Viltrox over the Sigma 56mm and your photos have pushed me further in that direction. Though i realize you edited these, the colors seem a lot better than on the Sigma. I currently have the 7artisans 55mm which is nice considering its price, but i need autofocus and the 55mm has a bit too much character, not enough sharpness. The Viltrox lens seems to produce some beauties. I’m a sucker for silver lenses too, as the Canon version and my M6ii are silver. Really enjoyed your video!

I must say I do love silver lenses! I can’t comment on colour since I haven’t tried the Sigma (wish they would have x-mount lenses) But it’s a nice lens, I was impressed and if you enjoy what you see then I’m glad it was helpful 🙏🏼🙏🏼

52mm was quite common filter thread back in the day - many Nikon lenses had used it. What you maybe could do on the fly is to take larger filter and mount it on the lens via step-up ring.

For the Fuji 56mm would you shoot at 1.2 a lot? I guess it depends on the situation but it seems rather a narrow depth of field for street photography. As the guy once said just because you have 1.2 doesn't mean you should use it all the time. The question is more related to stills rather than video. Thanks mate.
@HVRIS3 жыл бұрын
Typically I shoot at f/1.2 because it’s fun. But if you want the best quality from the lens, shoot at around f/4 - f/5.6. Also, that statement applies to full frame cameras more than crop I believe. For example, if I shot at f/1.2 on full frame, I would probably miss shots and I’ve noticed that the image isn’t sharp most of the time (depends on the lens) and the bokeh would be over kill. However, on APSC I’m getting light at f/1,2 and my depth of field is effectively f/1.8 and is actually sharp. So I find that the balance is nice. Again, I’m not advising to always shoot at f/1.2 with the 56mm but if you do, it’s fun and definitely useable in the streets! ✌🏼 Happy shooting

😂 You can get the whole trio of Viltrox primes (23 F1.4, 33 F1.4, and 56 F1.4) for the less than the price of ONE Fujifilm 56mm F1.2 WR.....so in that regards, it's a no-brainer to pick up any of these Viltrox lens (I have all 3 lens). The only caveat is you should NOT shoot this wide-open at F1.4 because there's crazy purple fringing around subjects - from looking at my photos, you have to stop it down to atleast F1.8 to reduce purple fringing. I primarily shoot portraits so it's not a big deal becasue you don't want to be shooting people at F1.4 (e.g. it's too wide open so one ear may be sharp, and the other ear will be blurred out....which looks funny). My photo mentor said when shooting people, F2.8 is probably the widest you should have it at to ensure the entire person's head is in focus. I had someone help me do corporate photography and my helper shot everyone at F2.0.....pretty much all of the photos of those ~30 people was messed up - their eyes were super sharp/clear, but all of their ears and hair were bokeh'd....LOL. 😂

@HVRIS3 жыл бұрын
Kind of, it depends. I feel that the FF 35mm is popular due to the environment it’s been used in most. I find that where I live, the streets are super wide and far apart. So, I feel that having an FF 85mm it allows me to capture moments that a FF 50mm would of been tad bit far away. But that’s my style I like to focus on moments more if I can.
