Got same issue in AF accuracy with Viltrox 85mm Mk I. Thanks for this review. :)

Having one for my XT30ii, great lens for cheaper price. But wouldn't recommend to get the 23mm as the vignetting is unacceptable at wider aperture.

Great review! It's good to see a review with some honest opinions regarding the real-world usefulness of a lens. I went out with a 'legacy' MF adapted Tamron SP 90mm lens on my Fuji the other day and discovered this is a superb focal length to test your creativity.....

Yes it is definitely a challenge. Once I was shooting with it for a while I found that I liked shooting larger objects at a distance and getting that “large format” separation at then wider apertures. I think that’s where it shines in portraiture as well, full body shots with awesome subject isolation. By the way, I’ve watched a couple of your videos small world that you’ve seen mine now too 😂

I Like the Sigma 56 mm more. Great Lens, although the 23 mm Sigma. Today there are the viltrox 27 mm and 75 mm Lens, much better Choice.

Nothing wrong with a fujifilm kit lens at 55. :D I've gotten some amazing shots with that 18-55. :D

Ouch what a horror story 😄 yay for the second shooter. Where you shooting on CH or CL with C-AF? I’ve seen some nice product shots with this lens but I think I’d rather have the 80mm macro for that instead.
@MattJacobs3 жыл бұрын
I agree with wanting a macro instead for sure. And I stupidly was in single point AF, single shot holding down shutter half way to focus and snapping shots…. Learning experience for sure
@kingsamvisuals3 жыл бұрын
If you can afford an 80mm then this lens isn’t a consideration. That’s a whole other league

Please how does it compare to the Viltrox 56 f1.4, I bought the Viltrox 85 f1.8 for the said reasons you raised.
@MattJacobs3 жыл бұрын
I think the 56 is more versatile and easier to use in more situations. It also helps that it’s smaller and lighter. Both are great for portraits I would just say the 85 is more specialized for portraits. Check out my review of the Viltrox 56 if you haven’t already: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGbLiY2qmtGWrLs

@@MattJacobs do I need to have the 56 if I already have the kit lens 18-55?

@@aldrinallanigue3671 idk that’s impossible to say I have no clue what you shoot or what you think of doing with it

@@MattJacobs just regular outdoor portraits and street photography. So Do i need to have that wide aperture 56? Vs the 18-55?

do you need a camera with IBIS with ths lens?
@MattJacobs2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need IBIS if you’re at liberty to have a higher shutter speed. Because it’s a longer focal length and the lens has no OIS, I’d say shooting at a minimum of 1/250th of a second is a good bet as long as you’re holding pretty still and your subject is also not moving. You could probably get away with 1/125th but have less % shots in sharp focus. But yeah even in low light with the f/1.8 you gotta crank your ISO to keep a high enough shutter speed, unless you’re shooting on a tripod and your subject is completely still. Even my 50-140 performs about the same in low light because although it has OIS, it’s only f/2.8 wide open. Every lens has its trade offs

User error with that wedding nothing to do with the lens. Set your settings properly would of been alright at CH CAF

There is no difference on how plastic or metal hoods attach, because the mount is always plastic.
@MattJacobs Жыл бұрын
That is just not true lol. I have a metal square lens hood for my XF 33mm f/1.4 and the mount on it and the lens are both metal and attaches very nicely. Even lenses with plastic lens hoods usually attach with much more ease, so there is in fact a difference.
