Man. I dont know what makes me happier: The improvements that MWG has gone through, or the fact that Nick's newer content still has the same energy.

Love your content! I teach game dev to high school students, and I often use your videos to help give students into the development and design process. Just started this series as I dig a little deeper in your archives, and looking forward to watching more. Keep up the great work!

The internet is full of tutorials and resources. It's totally possible to make games with no experience. Just have to put in some time and not give up. Good luck!

Hey KZbin notifications just brought me here out of the blue so that's cool! Man, that was an entertaining devlog. So much packed into a 4 mins! I really like your approach of getting people playing the game as early as possible and just "following the fun". I'm always too scared to show anyone anything I'm working on in case it turns out to be not as great as I think it is (which is almost definitely the case :P) Also seeing the mistakes people make is great in a kind of reassuring way, we've all been there with the unmaintainable code that makes you not want to do it anymore

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed. I had the same fear of showing my stuff but forced myself to change that with this project and I think it has been great for me. It has also helped with being open about mistakes and moving forward. Best of luck with your projects!

Code used to not be an issue for me because I never get to the point of continuing the project past the different coloured-square used as placeholder stage. I just lose interest and start a new project. Now, I limited the amount of games I want to do (it used to be 18, my 9 year old mind somehow thought anything was possible) and I'm currently working on 3 games! 1 planned for next month and 2 for the end of the year as a playble demo and alpha! Since I'm now working on my game projects longer than I originally did, code has became an issue. In my first released game, I had to redo the AI 2 times and it's still not perfect! The dialogue system was a bit clunky too. But now I know to make clean code from the start. I know how to make a proper dialogue system now. I still wanna update that first game, but not now cause I'm quite dissapointed with the amount of downloads compared to the time I worked on it. But anyways, your game looks amazing! It looks like one of those indie games that everyone will like to play!

Thank you very much. I feel you on not wanting to go back and update older games. That's why I like game jams. Something in my brain lets me just walk away when the time limit is up, happy I finished. Good luck on the 3 games you have going. Let me know when they are ready.

Been there. I was making a game while learning to code. I started hating the idea of even touching the code for anything. I only wrote things once, but the project was too large and the code too bad. I rewrote it from the ground up so many times I lost count. But near the end I stopped total rewrites and usually only needed to rewrite a module at most. It was totally worth it each time though.

I can imagine the code being garbage if you are not an experienced programmer, I feel the same way with art... I could easily pump out good code for some games, but making it look good is just not my cup of tea.

You made this? Cool. I assume it's for PC? Still miss your Minecraft videos, though... What happened to your Let's Play series playlist? Uh, Vimlark/Durzo, why is there a Dark Souls episode in your Twilight Forest Season 3 playlist?
@Vimlark

Thanks, for right now this will be fore mac/PC. Unfortunately I haven't played Minecraft in several years at this point. Not saying I will never play it again but it is unlikely. I deleted a lot of old videos that had really low view counts still after several years. The Let's Play series was one of them. The Dark Souls video was a misclick on my part at some point that I didn't know I did. I removed it. Thanks for letting me know.

@@Vimlark :( You were my first introduction to the Twilight Forest mod. I still don't have a computer capable of running Minecraft without lagging to hell and back (current machine is essentially made of spare parts). Loved watching and rewatching your Let's Play series, too. Have to wonder what builds you might have come up with using all the new blocks that have been added XD;;; And had to laugh about you using the gravity gun to throw beehives in season 1... Bees were just added to vanilla Minecraft! There's a Twilight Forest season 4 episode, from your adventures in the goblin knight stronghold, in the Season 2 playlist. Could you slip that one over to where it should be? Then I'll get out of your hair and get back to rewatching season 2 ^_^;;;;;
