Hi Tracia, I lost my bright and beautiful daughter Jessica to a rare form of cancer 8 months after her 25th birthday. I don't know if she could hear me, but in the last hour of her life as I sat by her bed I told her it was O.K. to let go, that she didn't have to try to hold on for me. A social worker from the hospice had dropped by to sit and talk w/ me and as we were talking Jessie's rapid breathing suddenly stopped, and her earthly life came to an end. The day of the memorial service was one of gusty wind and heavy rain, but about an hour after I got home the sky cleared, and in the East was a perfect, unbroken rainbow, and in the West an orange sunset. It may have been a coincidence, but I took it as a sign that after an often difficult life that my "little girl" had reached a safe harbor.

Some background: "Since Voice from the Stone follows the story of a nurse trying to help a mute young boy who has recently lost his mother speak again, Lee felt that the plot "resonated very deeply" with her due to the fact that she had recently become a mother. The song she was asked to write was meant to illustrate the child's deceased mother's perspective and the feelings of unlimited love that extend even beyond death. In the movie, the mother's character is a classical singer and a piano player who also enjoyed the perks of motherhood; Lee expressed her compatibility with the given description, saying, "There is no way that this could have been more me! It's meant to be me, it has to be me, and I'm writing this song!". The singer further added that "it wasn't a stretch, in any way, for me to put myself exactly in the spot where I needed to be to write this song".

Nice reaction. The song is from a movie called "A voice from the stone" is a boy who loses his mother, and he doest speak since then. So the music is about that mother (who passed away) singing to her son who still lives and misses her.

I dunno if anyone has commented this but the child in this videos is her actual son that's probably why the song come across so real even though it was a movie soundtrack

In the movie… if you actually watch it…it’s about the mother who passed which left her husband and son behind … but mainly the son who won’t speak since his mother passed untill that moment towards the end the mother came back but in a different body which was Emila Clark’s character… just watch it… plus when the director who was also going to make the music video asked Amy Lee to do a song for the music video… soo she watched the movie which it hasn’t came out at the time and she stated that being a mother herself she wrote the song herself. It’s a good movie!

I know this is late in comenting on a reaction. But ive heard that this was for the movie but still a conection to her sister who died. For me its about losing my best friend... Thats the power of music, the meaning of the song isnt the most importat, its the interpetation (spelling?)!

I'll be honest I was only half paying attention to the song/video....but your discussion afterwards got to me. My mom passed in a car accident when I was 8 which was a long ass time ago. Time passes and I think about it less and less which is sad but you have to protect yourself like that. If I didn't move on I couldn't function because that loss cuts SO deep you can't EVER get over it. You live with it but it never heals.

I totally get it. It’s a mothers song regardless. It’s about a mother losing her baby and being separated no mater what. It’s still hard. We are alone breath apart from this world to the next.

are "HD" and "720p" really something important nowadays to promote in the title? 720p isn't even considered HD anymore by youtube. this would have been cool in 2012 but not 10 years later ;)
