the lyrics to this song were written by synyster gates(lead guitarist). Syn and the Rev were bestfriends since childhood and he also wrote the lyrics to so far away:)
@the_verTigO6 жыл бұрын
As far as I know Syn originally started to write So far away for his grandfather. At that time The Rev was still with them. Then when The Rev passed away Syn changed the song to be about him (or maybe him and his grandpa? I don't know that for sure).

This was almost a 'battle cry' of sorts. This is their message about them overcoming their initial sorrow about his passing, and remembering about all the amazing things he did while he was alive. Dont cry for those that are dead, smile about the life they lead.

I'm not the biggest fan of the split videos. Overall, you guys are doing a great job.I really like the Avenged Sevenfold content, one of my favorites. I'd definitely like to see some reactions to their older stuff, something from City of Evil maybe (Beast and the Harlot or Size the Day). Your consideration for the lyrics and the context to the band is great to listen to.

Hey if anyone here is a bit younger, say maybe less than 20 just a word of advice, honestly chersih your friendships because friendships like this are extremely extremely rare. Most people never even talk to anyone from their high school ever again after they graduate. And after awhile you really only have a few really close friends in life so don't take moments with the ones you have for granted and always do your best to love one another

Believe it or not. They actually had no idea that he had an enlarged heart. There's speculation that he didn't even know. But I think that he knew. But didn't want to break the knew to the band mates as he knew he would break their hearts. I always saw him as a giver, Not a taker. He would do everything In his willpower just to make someone happy, But In actuallity. He was the person who was sad, And fighting all these Demons, Taking these drugs. But he would never let up a chance to make someone happy. As Zacky said, You could walk Into a room Angry, Pissed off, Sad, But no matter what, In no more than 5 minutes he'd have you on the floor laughing. He had to be one of the most selfless musicions out there.

I think the double video format works well with deeper, lyrical analysis. LOVE the historic religious deep digging. Grew up in a Pentacostal house and always like digging deep to see if the way I was being raised was right. Listening to Marilyn Manson as a kid contradicting what I was being told was "The Truth". So I ALWAYS love the digging deep in the Behemoth, thy art, and Nile videos. Very awesome but for "simple" songs the 2 vids seems excessive just my opinion. Love the content and engaging in viewers 🤘 oh Issues - Kings of Amarillo Architects - Nihilist Lol
@Liesofautumn16 жыл бұрын
You should dive into Architects. I saw Sori getting emotional. Architects had twin brothers in the band, dan and tom. Tom was the sole writer of the band and ended up passing away a couple years ago at a very young age of cancer and the band has continued. Very emotional to listen to their last album and the single that they finished after Tom passed away. Alot their lyrics are about saving the planet and how humans are really wrecking alot of it when its not soley ours to destroy. Evangelical Atheists is what I jokingly call them. But deep deep meaningful lyrics and sad but inspiring. With some heavy metal of course.

Yea that album is awesome! Memento Mori is one of the most emotional songs I've heard. I saw them live like 6 months after he died but I didn't know anything about the band then so when they started talking about this guy who died I had no idea...
@Liesofautumn16 жыл бұрын
Mic Zen ya its way more emotional when you know about Tom. The band as a whole is amazing. The album All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us was written before Tom passed away but you can make alot of connections in the lyrics to his passing. Gets me emotional. Followed the band for yearssss. Every single song on that album is so emotional and strong lyrically.
@mickej846 жыл бұрын
Sadly I didn't discover them untill after he died. I had never liked a metalcore band untill I heard All our gods.. and I was blown away. One of my favourite albums. It's a real pity Tom died so young. I truly believe he was up there with the greatest talents in music.

St. Jame's Gate Dublin, Irelandm that's a Guinness crackin open at the beginning (I've drank a lot of it) but that was the beer of choice the Rev. For every "draught" he'd share a drink, Guinness is a draught. A play on words for James Sullivan their friend and St. James the Christian saint and St. Jame's Gate in Dublin. Cleverly written.

Woods Of Ypres wrote another album after this before David Gold’s car accident. This is a great song, though. I’ve been suggesting “Adora Vivos “. Woods last album, Grey Skies And Electric Light, didn’t even come out until after his death. I was lucky enough to attend the release party for the album. It also doubled as a memorial so it was a bit somber. The subject matter of the album lends a bit of an eerie vibe as death is a prevalent theme across the album. A lot of songs speak about a lack of an afterlife yet there’s a couple songs at the end of the album that seem to contain some hope that there might be. The album absolutely crushes me when I let it.

If you’d like to understand why people including Avenged Sevenfold thought the Rev was a genius he wrote their songs Afterlife and A Little Piece of Heaven. This is just a small sample but one of the reasons a lot of fans felt the loss so hard is because he wrote, played a huge roll in writing, or inspired the beginning of writing some of their best songs.

Awesome breakdown. Just a suggestion. You guys should check out Pinkly Smooth. This was Revs band he had on the side and he was the singer. He also wrote most, if not all the songs I believe. If you’re willing to check them out, try Nosferatu Does a Hefty Dance. Or McFly. Love those songs. McFly is actually about the Revs cat apparently because he left once and he came back to find out that the cat was dead. And I believe Shadows and Syn were supposed to take care of it.

You will have to react to MIA - A7X and Danger Line by A7X. Much love to you guys. I will wait patiently. Very nice video tho. One thing I have to say tho, the line "For every sorrow there is a light from our St. James." This has another meaning to it. Rev and Synyster are (were) the most goofballs in the band. They make everyone happy and smile. If you see their backstages or meet them in concert or live, you would know how much synyster and REV could make you laugh with their silly stuffs. The singer Matt once said that The Rev is the funniest boy in the band. And they used to console him whenever they feel sad.

I don't know if there is a trilogy of songs about The Rev, there are more than 3 songs about him. I think the true "trilogy", if you wanna call that, is: so far away, fiction and victim. Mostly because these songs are from the same album and the last that they made with Rev, and St. James is from Hail to the King album, which has a different style from those from the Nightmare album.

Great Reaction/Review. I like A7X and always felt their critics are "missing the Ark". Like JUDAS PRIEST, they refuse to be stuffed in a box. They don't want to bring "cookie monster" vocals to every damn song. They can carry a note like any real singer should. The growl should only be a weapon in the armory. Not the only weapon.

That was a pleasant song. Nothing for me to get excited about but nothing that bothered me either. I kinda lost interest in A7x after City Of Evil was released and found out that Shadows had to change his vocal approach due to the damage he was doing to it by singing/screaming like he was back on Waking The Fallen. The new direction they took didn’t really catch my attention. Not that they need it; they’ve been doing quite well since I stopped paying attention to them. The stuff from, “The Stage” did sound kinda interesting.
