He did in fact rotate roughly 360 degrees in the air. He dunked at 180. But for argumentative purpose, say he dunked at 180 but continued to rotate a full 900 degrees. It would be a little misleading in that case to call it merely a 180 dunk. It's just not so technical of a definition when it comes to these things. I still call it a 360 windmill. It just depends how you define it. I'm not sure there's a rule book on this.

everybody commenting about how they remember this dunk or that dunk, you have *no* idea what this meant for Toronto at the time. Raps were only in their 5th season and struggling for an identity - this put Toronto on the NBA map.

What made Vince Carter dunks different? First off, he had the fluidity, the gracefulness, the overall motion, the way he spins when doing a 360° dunk. Next was the power - the sound of the rim when his wrist makes contact with it was unmistakable - he slams that ball down so hard. Third was the arm extension - a windmill dunk only works & looks the best when the arm is fully extended. You can't bend your arm, not even the slightest. And last was his athleticism - because he was so athletic, he was able to turn bad passes into works of art. He could reach for the ball & dunk it down whichever direction it was going to. Best dunker EVER, hands down.

It's so crazy hearing Kenny smith and stuff talk about did he just put his hand through the rim and all that. They never seen anything like that before now 16 years later people think that's just an average dunk. Vince really was a pioneer of dunking. Even after all the ones before him. He changed the game after that night. The standard is him from then on.
