I was eating in a restaurant in Los Angeles, when a customer passed by my horseshoe shaped booth as he was exiting the facility. He looked directly into my eyes...he knew, that I knew who he was. We both smiled (I smiled like the devoted fan I am) and it was just a private exchange where no words were spoken, or were necessary. Beautiful memory!

Remembering this great actor & true gentleman on his 95th birthday. His legion of fans have been lobbying for decades to get his tv series "Matt Lincoln" from 1970, along with the pilot Dial Hot Line, seen. For some reason, this series has been banned from public viewing. Literally not available via any viewing platform since it originally aired in 1970. He started as a singer & has a beauriful voice.
@greg6363
@greg6363 7 ай бұрын
The series (Matt Lincoln) has not been banned. It is sitting in the Universal TV vault. Since only 16 episodes were produced, that amount is not enough to make it viable for syndication. However, Universal did combine several episodes (like they did for other short lived series) to make a few two-hour movies available for syndication to local stations.
@ajpanacake7994
@ajpanacake7994 6 ай бұрын
@@greg6363There are so many tv series that are short-lived that have been released on DVD. Ex. The Immortal. Only 15 eps. plus the pilot. VEI distribution basically only releases short- lived series. Whether half a season or one full season. The only short- lived series with a major actor not to get any kind of release is George C. Scott. But, it can be found through private collectors. Vince was the biggest tv star in the world as Ben Casey, yet CBSHOMEENT has only released the first season. That was almost five years ago. Amazon has to keep restocking. The mystery is why the pilot film to Matt Lincoln is not viewable anywhere even through private collectors? It aired as an abc movie of the week. Every tv movie with a big name actor and obscure actors can be found. Not this movie. I cannot count the short- lived tv series that are out there. Yet, why is this actor ignored in his tv series? Abc-Disney now owns the rights. The eps. and pilot are housed in the UCLA film and tv archives and the Library of Congress. You can make an appt.for onsite viewing.

Wow! I heard this song ONCE when I was a little boy and it stayed in my head. It was on some TV show and for all I know it could have been this one. After all these years, I get to hear it for a second time. I didn't know if he would sing in this clip but I was hoping he would and bam - there was the song. Interestingly, as an adult I became a fan of Rupert Holmes, the writer of this song - never knowing that he had written this too. THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!

I cannot believe Vince left us 15 years ago today. I am thrilled to see he is still so missed and beloved. Again, distributors wake up, it is time to release both his tv series on dvd. They are Ben Casey and the rare but quality series Matt Lincoln. Rare because ABC aired this drama at 7:30 in 1970. It was never given a chance. RIP Vince.

Thank you for all you beloved thoughts about Vince. I am thrilled I am not alone. I literally have been e-mailing distributor for over a decade to release both his tv series, Ben Casey and Matt Lincoln. Matt Lincoln is not well known because ABC stupidly aired his series at 7:30. Can you believe it? I have never heard of a drama series airing at this time. It was never given a chance in a normal timeslot just chancelled and replaced at 8:00! with Alias Smith and Jones.

Your tribute is a testament to how missed and beloved Vince is. It is time distributors heed the public's call and release his series. No more delays. They can be released MOD (Manufacture on Demand) this is what Warner Archives sometimes does. Warner Archives understands that people want to see these old shows again. and make the supreme effort.

Matt Lincoln defined the 1970's. Vince played a psychiatrist that ran a walk-in clinic and a telephone hotline for troubled college age kids. It was the first series to deal with emotional issues in an adult manner. There are 16 episodes plus the pilot film Dial Hot Line, Universal owns it. Here is there e-mail address USHE.consumerrelations@bydeluxe.com Universal sometimes license their shows to shout!factory info@shoutfactory. Ben Casey is owned by Paramount studios. Thanks.

Interesting that he didn't like the term B Movie. He was ahead of his time. What was considered a B Movie then, would be called a low budget, or independent film today. In those days the B Movie was the 2nd feature of a double bill movie. Today we don't have double bill movies, due to multiplex theaters, which they didn't have in those days.
